Finally, Something Good For State Basketball
Published: 1/8/2011 3:58 PM

There was a time when beating the No. 17 team in the country would have been routine for college basketball teams in our state - all of them.
Now, it is cause for celebration.
Oklahoma State certainly did not look fabulous, and the Cowboys have lots of issues to work out if they want to be an NCAA Tournament team, but beating 17th-ranked Kansas State was a big deal on Saturday in Stillwater.
OSU still has 15 very difficult Big 12 games ahead. And, from the looks of things, nothing will come easy for the Cowboys.
But, that was a solid victory over a good team. That has been in short supply for OSU, Oklahoma, Tulsa and Oral Roberts this seasoon.
OSU coach Travis Ford has done good job the past two years of rallying the Cowboys late in the season to reach the NCAA Tournament.
It is still to be seen if Ford can get these Cowboys to the Big Dance.
However, winning at home against Kansas State was one of the first positive signs for basketball in our state this season.

This must have been depressing from a TW standpoint. Glad they are proving you all wrong.

It seems what OSU (and the B12) really needs to work on is a consistency vaccination for the officiating crew. The game took a half-hour longer than necessary because the officials could not figure out how they were going to call the game. Best proofs of poor officiating: KSU had 4 players fouled out and OSU had two fouled out, one of them being Keiton Page - I can't remember the last time Page fouled out at OSU.
