Flying the Unfriendly Skies

Air travel continues to be the most unpleasant part of any trip as delays skyrocket and service continues to decline.
In recent weeks, air trips to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh were marred by delays and service which is in decline.
That's not to say there aren't good folks in the airline industry.
For instance, service and civility among the employees of Southwest Airlines continues to be the standard.
Even when faced with delays, an explanation was given and attempts were made to fix the problem and keep travelers informed.
I'm not here to complain about air travel. There's plenty of it from everyone.
However, if folks would just let us know why we're delayed and how they are going to do everything possible to fix it, then I'm fine with it.
It isn't cheap to fly. And, this time of year, I'm usually on a plane by my choice (for a vacation trip).
So, a little understanding that air travel has never been more difficult and frustrating would be appreciated.
I don't need a full hot meal and silverware. I really am fine with the honey roasted peanuts.
What I want is a reason why we're still sitting at the gate an hour after we were supposed to leave.
