For OU right now, practice is making imperfect

Oklahoma coaches swear by the notion you play on Saturday how you practice the week leading up to the game. Which made something Landry Jones said after the Kansas State loss so jolting.
The OU quarterback was asked what needed to happen in order for a bounceback to occur. His answer: "Little things. Practice better. Focus on being extremely detailed in what we're doing out there, and not just kind of going through the motions. Practice must change."
The assumption was some of the bad habits last year's team developed had changed. Perhaps not.
Two more captains addressed the practice issue Monday.
Defensive end David King: "I think guys need to pay more attention to detail, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Not getting beat in basic coverages we've been practicing on since camp. Or not being able to rush the passer. It's inexcusable. We do pass rush stuff every day."
Fullback Trey Millard: "We definitely need to get some better habits than we have had. That starts today. I think it's letting some of the details go. We've tried to focus on that. Some of it slipped out. I think we're going to refocus on it."
