For Sept. 18 OSU-TU contest, television ‘not likely’

STILLWATER – The Washington State-Oklahoma State football game – the Sept. 4 opener at Boone Pickens Stadium – will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.

On Oct. 8, OSU plays a Friday game at Louisiana-Lafayette. It will be televised on ESPN2.

On Sept. 18, the Cowboys host the University of Tulsa for what should be a very compelling contest in Stillwater. Unfortunately for fans of both schools (and for any college football fan, really, because it should be entertaining), the game is not scheduled to be televised.

Asked on Tuesday whether TU-OSU might be picked up by a network or televised on a pay-per-view basis, an Oklahoma State official replied, “Not likely.”

For the first time, a Mike Gundy-coached Cowboy team faces TU. The Cowboys and Golden Hurricane collide for the first time since 2004, when OSU recorded a 38-21 home victory.

In its 70-game series with the Hurricane, OSU holds a 38-27-5 advantage. In 2011, OSU visits TU’s H.A. Chapman Stadium. In 2012, the teams are matched again in Stillwater.

OSU and TU officials currently are discussing the possibility of an additional contract – either a three-game deal or a five-game deal. If there is an agreement for three additional games, two would be played in Stillwater. If the agreement is for five games, three would be played in Stillwater.

The history of this series suggests that games in Stillwater are blow-outs but the games in Tulsa are nail-biters.

...but yes, I can't make the game this year, but would be willing to buy it on Pay-per-View if it were available.

I'm willing to bet that next year's game at TU will be sold out and fast. TU fans better get their tickets quickly because if not, most of the stadium will be orange.
