Thanks to one of the worst coaching jobs in recent memory, with a major assist to one of the worst guard-passing performances in long-term memory, our pick of Oklahoma State over OU, outright, point spread aside, came shining through.

Picking here isn't like picking on radio or television, where homers, clowns and simpletons couldn't correctly select the winner of the replay. Picking here, it's in black and white. Yesterday before the OU-OSU game, Oklahoma City radio hacks were laughing about the LOW point spread of OU over OSU by only four and a half. After the game, nothing but whining about the refs. Here, all you do is scan back. Read it and celebrate: Right there in print, OSU over OU. This, on the heels of Florida over OU almost to the inch, and Arizona to play the Steelers to the wire.

Anything else we can do for you characters?

How bad was the coaching and guard play in the OU-OSU game?

The OU guards took 29 shots. Blake Griffin took 9 shots.

What is OU's best win this year?

None.

See, people, all you have to do to be successful in the picking business is look beyond the cheerleaders.

While on the subject of Blake Griffin.....his defense against Oklahoma State was really bad.

We have hit 20 of our last 21 picks against the point spread.

Here is the direct quote from the previous blog on the game: "OSU over OU in OKC this week is a virtual lock in our hoop selection of the decade."

The praise stops here.

On the most high-profile games, the Picker is the man. Except that in some ways, he is a beast. He's not always right and occasionally he's very wrong but not much lately ... You Must Respect His Opinion because He Thinks With His Mind

thanks, Picker

i'm going out on a limb and guessing that bgb cried himself to sleep last night.

Thank you, people, now we're getting somewhere.

It is a bit sad to note that so many who yap before the tip hide under the bed, after.

The sport to which Ms. Segal refers is horse racing.

This week there are many nice races leading up to the Ky. Derby. One I double-circled last year, December I think it was, or maybe January, was Pioneer of the Nile, which I saw run wild at Delta; it has since turned into about the third favorite. Anything 27-1, you have to like. There's a big race at Oaklawn, as well; and that track has been just the ticket to Churchill of late.

A final basketball thought. Going by what transpired against OSU, the Picker could dunk on Blake Griffin, who appears to be saving his energy for a higher league.

Not being an OSU or OU homer allows me to enjoy your picks more as I don't get my panties wadded up too tight if you pick against them. OU's downfall, as you mentioned...they are not a good team defensively. And if they are not smart enough to know that Blake Griffin should touch the ball on every possession, a lot like TU has figured out that Jordan needs to touch the ball on every possession, they are looking at another 1st round debacle in the NCAA tournament and things will look a lot like Kelvin has returned to Norman. Can you say Manhattan?

See how we all get along after I hit 20 in a row.

In all seriousness, OU's best win has been what?

Purdue? Utah?

Concerning TU's Jordan, if he doesn't stay in school, we'll be seeing him in Bixby next year in that indoor street ball league.

Alright Pick, I'll hand it to you on last night's game...and I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it.

Hopefully my Pokes can keep this going and take care of a Mizzou team that I don't find as impressive as I first did. I know they beat Tech by 20 but there were numerous opportunities for Tech to make it a much closer game.

How do you see this one ending?
robin segal (4 years ago)
Actually, you do not have to like ANYTHING at 27-1.

How fleeting is detente...

I quadruple circled the horse that won last week.

:-b
Captain Stormfield (4 years ago)
Picker,

Check inside that double circle.

The horse you saw run wild at Delta(!) was Big Drama, now injured and off the Derby trail.

Pioneer of the Nile's never been on dirt, though the trainer can handle it.

Heeeeyyyyyyyyy, sic 'em Bears!

Bad shooting night for the pokes...their defense kept them in it. Hit three more 3's somewhere throughout the game and OSU wins. Hopefully we can still catch a 7 seed...Go Pokes!

You , the almighty Picker, could dunk on Griffin?

Let's set that up. I am sure he would like to give you that shot.

BGB--look back at a replay of the wonderful game that OU choked in. Blake doesn't even bother defending half the time. However, I do think the refs have been instructed to call a foul on any player who remotely touches Blake. Personally, I don't even find him or any of the big guys all that impressive. I think it takes a lot more talent to actually be able to shoot the ball from a distance (and be 5'9" and making shots over giants) than to lift up your arms and drop a ball in a hole.
If we make the tourney? Once again showing your stupidity. Did you just get released from the nearby penetentiary?
The Picker (4 years ago)
Capt Stormfield, you're exactly right, thanks, it was the one that got hurt that was eye-catching in La. I first say Nile when he broke 100th and ran third in Ky. He's a little too popular these days, don't you think.

Tattoo, OSU was an easy pick once the game ended.

Vern, time for your meds.
