Picker, you've been around sports long enough to know that teams go through ups and downs in a season. It's how you are playing in the end that counts. Remember the Manning-led Jayhawk hoops squad of the mid 80's? Their record entering the big dance was meaningless when they held up the trophy. My point is that UT was playing with a hurt QB, and their defense has certainly come back a notch or two late in the season. I don't think anyone would argue against the fact that OU is playing better football than UT right now, but not when it counted on Oct. 7. Look at Oregon. They have gone into the tank, but were playing much better earlier in the season before a couple of losses took the edge off of them.
A lot of people argue that the entire season should be looked at when deciding who should play in the BCS bowls. I agree to the extent of looking at schedules, etc. But it is much more imortant to me to see how a team is playing NOW...not in September.
The hit on McCoy wasn't a penalty. He was hit right as he released the ball. True, he took it on the chin, but that isn't illegal. QB's are babied way too much these days. If you get hit late, then OK. If you get hit helmet to helmet, depends. If you get smoked right as you throw it, tough.
You think Frannie saved his job with that big win? How about the Longhorns just collapsing down the stretch? Incredible. Brings back memories of 16-13 in Norman a few years back.
As for the game, I agree that OSU +6 is a very good play. If I were still a "bad boy", my $$$ would already be down. I''ll take the Sooners by a late FG str8 up though...
