Get Weeden on Your Heisman List

Brandon Weeden. MIKE SIMONS/Tulsa World

Oklahoma State found itself in a 20-3 halftime hole on the road facing a top 10 team and more than 87,000 hostile fans.

That’s why Brandon Weeden might be the most valuable player in the nation to his team.

There might be better players. There might be more talented players. There might be quarterbacks with bigger arms or more elusive.

But, there is probably no player in college football who is more confident, calm and resilient than Weeden, Oklahoma State’s quarterback.

OSU rallied on his arm for a 30-29 victory over Texas A&M.

If he’s not on your Heisman list, you shouldn’t have a list.

As Weeden said a year ago after a loss to Nebraska, and whether he and his team would recover, “I’ve given up a few homers in the minor leagues.”

Weeden knows how to deal with adversity. He doesn’t get rattled. He’s given up homers and still had to make another pitch.

So, when the Cowboys were faced with what looked like an impossible task, Weeden never flinched. He delivered a comeback for the ages.

Weeden has a fantastic arm. He’s smart.

But the best thing about him might be his personality.

There are probably very few, if any, other quarterbacks who could have engineered such a dramatic comeback at A&M against long odds.

OSU has a lot more talent than in recent years. However, Weeden makes the Cowboys go.

Where is the Sooner nation? I'm thinking this headline would have garnered the efforts of the usual crowd's detractors. Maybe we're all growing up and realizing that Oklahoma is a football state...Sooner or Cowboy.

Weeden is indeed a great QB, but Tyler Wilson just trumped him vs A&M.
