Oh, perfect.

Just what we need.

The biggest smart-face yet -- another writer seeking a groupie and a walk-on roll on a bad sit-com: Rick Reilly is apparently ESPN's new number big mouth.

A very good writer in books and for Sports Illustrated, he comes across as just another loud know-it-all on the tube.

ESPN unveiled him at the Belmont Stakes, where he did a sappy ode to Big Brown, who ran last.

This week, he said in so many cutesy words that Tiger Woods was finished.

He tries so hard to be clever that he comes across as one of them.

Yeah, ain't it sad? I used to look forward to reaching the last page of SI to read Reilly's column. Usually, insightful and pithy, often bringing a tear to one's eye, it was more often than not a fine way to end the issue. For that reason (and others), I've decided not to renew my sub when this one expires. But I haven't had the misfortune of watching him on the tube. Are you sure you aren't overexposing yourself to this crap, Pick?

Pick, can't a guy change professions after 25+ years w/out you whining? Do what the radio heads say to do if you don't like the content...change the station! Rick's earned the right to do something different at this point in his life. Find something else to gripe about.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
