Gone from OSU schedule: First Air Force. Now Clemson.

The “A.D.” Bowl is history.

Oklahoma State was scheduled to play Clemson (whose athletic director is former OSU A.D. Terry Don Phillips) in 2019 and 2020.

But Clemson confirmed Wednesday that it is dropping home-and-home series with OSU and Mississippi because a nine-game ACC schedule will leave room on the slate for only three nonconference games instead of four.

“A home-and-home situation, we just can’t do it,” Phillips told media outlets in South Carolina. “I hate it. I’d like to keep the series. But reality demands in the long term that we keep seven home games every year, with the Georgia series (2013-14) being the exception.”

According to the Clemson fan site Orangeandwhite.com, Phillips said cancellation paperwork has been sent to OSU and that OSU “understands.”

Previously, OSU confirmed it was dropping a two-game home and home series with Air Force because of a nine-game Big 12 regular season schedule.

An overcommitted schedule, of course, requires juggling. But it’s too bad when the cost is the most attractive game on the nonleague schedule.

Great - now the season-ticket holders will get a scintillating non-con schedule filled with directional powerhouses like North Central Downhome Stateline University. That'll really make me want to renew those multi-buck plus "donation" tickets...NOT!
