Gundy Should Speak Out More Often

Ever since his famous “I’m 40 rant”, Mike Gundy has been very conservative and restrained in his public appearances.
Gundy started out as a coach who would say and do almost anything.
However, since the rant he is very careful about what he says. We think too careful.
This week Gundy spoke with some honesty about the devastation he and his team felt last year after a tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of four people, including OSU basketball coach Kurt Budke.
Up until this week, Gundy had long said that the plane crash, which the Cowboys found out about the morning of a game at Iowa Stater, had no impact on OSU’s loss to the Cyclones.
OSU players and coaches have never used the crash as an excuse for their only loss of last season, a loss that cost OSU a shot at the national championship game.
Now, Gundy has admitted it was “terrible” and changed everything about that day for OSU. OSU played a less than inspired game against ISU and lost.
We understand why Gundy did not want to use the crash as an excuse last year. We understand why Gundy would not push for his team over Alabama before the Bedlam game.
We understand why Gundy has not made a bigger issue of a blown call this fall against Texas that cost OSU a victory.
Gundy is trying to do the politically correct thing and not cause a big controversy.
However, sometimes it is okay to say what is really going on, what you really feel.
Gundy has become too cautious. His heartfelt memories of the day they learned of the crash, and the impact on last year’s game at ISU, was a nice touch.
Gundy just needs to be himself. If he’s comfortable saying it, then say it.

Yes, Huh? Slow day in the pressroom.
It's probably the media's fault he is quieter to start with, some came down on Gundy pretty hard for his rant. I always said that is where I first became a Gundy fan, the way he stuck up for his player.
Anyway, it would have done him no good to complain more on the bothched fumble call as i'ts not going to be changed and the conference frowns on post game moaning on officiating.
