Gundy could Learn a Few Things from Mack

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said on Monday that if he had a vote, and he doesn’t, he’d have Alabama at No. 2 just ahead of his Cowboys.
Gundy has a lot to learn about how to politic for your team. Perhaps, a call to Texas coach Mack Brown would be helpful.
Brown had no trouble trying to politic his Longhorns into the Big 12 title game in 2008. It didn’t work. OU still got the nod.
However, this could actually work out for Gundy.
We’re pretty sure if the Cowboys beat Oklahoma in Saturday’s Bedlam game, Gundy will change his tune. He’ll be doing all he can to push OSU past Bama for a spot in the national championship game.
And, voters might appreciate how honest he was in his Monday admission that Bama currently deserves the No. 2 slot.
Whether he actually really feels that way or not we don’t know. However, by saying it, he earns some trust with voters.
If OSU beats OU, and that’s a big if, then the Cowboys will have a legitimate argument for No. 2. They would be the outright champions in the best, top to bottom, league in the country.
Alabma had its shot at LSU, at home nonetheless, and couldn’t beat the Tigers.
There are plenty of reasons to argue for the Cowboys if they can finish 11-1. First, they must finish 11-1 and that’s no small task.
That’s why Gundy brushing off the ratings debate could work for him. He keeps his team on point toward the only game that really matters right now.

two things wrong here;

a) osu beating ou is NOT a big if and

b)there is NOTHING gundy can learn from mack brown

re: a)until gundy beats ou he hasn't beaten ou. 'If' is truly a big word in Stillwater. Here's to hoping it turns into 'when' Saturday night.

A pre-concocted diversion and ploy?

Feign to the left only to tact to the right?

A exercise in reverse psychology?

Should oSu win Bedlam, it better work because if it doesn't, Gundy's "Alabama should be number 2" declaration will live in infamy for as long as Oklahoma State University exist.

Such opportunity hasn't just been rare. It has been non-existent up until now and who knows when another such opportunity will arise, if ever again?

If it does turn out to be a ploy... a deception... so much for that honesty business... huh?

It can't be both.

Since you are writing about "big if's"... what was that score again?

And if's and but's were candy and nuts then yOU would have a Merry Christmas too!
