Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said today that 2009 All-American cornerback Perrish Cox will not be allowed to take part in Wednesday's Pro Day workout at Boone Pickens Stadium.
On Jan. 1, one day before the Cowboys faced Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl Classic, Cox was suspended by Gundy. Sources indicated that Cox, who was a senior, had twice committed curfew violations during the week before the Cotton Bowl.
During the OSU-Ole Miss game, sources said, Cox was removed from the sideline by OSU security personnel.
During the Pro Day workouts, former Cowboy players lift weights, run 40-yard sprints and do various agility drills before an audience of NFL scouts. OSU has not released a list of Pro Day participants, so it is not known whether wide receiver Dez Bryant, quarterback Zac Robinson and offensive tackle Russell Okung will participate. All were involved in the recent NFL Combine in Indianapolis, as was Cox.
A finalist for the 2009 Thorpe Award, given annually to the top defensive back in college football, Cox led the nation in passes defended (four interceptions, 15 break-ups). The Waco, Texas, native ranks as the Big 12's all-time leader in kickoff-return yards.
