Gundy situation: Never mind negotiations. How about mediation?

Are Mike Gundy’s choices down to staying at Oklahoma State or going to Tennessee?
In the media chaos that ensues during a coaching search, Gundy was rumored to be “the” candidate at Arkansas before news outlets (including USA Today) began reporting Tuesday that the Razorbacks have their next head coach in the bag and it’s someone other than the Cowboys’ head coach.
Tennessee and Arkansas have engaged in talks with Gundy about luring him away from his alma mater and a position that he has called his “New York Yankees job.”
Reports indicate that Gundy wanted more control over his program -- including scheduling and other issues -- if he stays at OSU.
But what happens if he doesn’t get more control and he sticks around anyway? If the coach and the university’s administration are already at odds, then things aren’t going to all of a sudden be happily ever after if he remains in Stillwater.
Bottom line: Forget negotiations. Folks in the OSU athletic department need to engage in mediation if the current cast of characters stays the same. Refer to what Rodney King said.
