Happy Days: BCS Beat Down
Published: 9/20/2011 3:26 PM
Last Modified: 9/20/2011 3:26 PM

Send Boren west to rub tassels with the freaks at Cal Berkely.

Leave our football teams alone!

Somebody wake up.

Without a major Texas connection, recruiting will run dry fast.

The only good news in college football is the impending BCS mess.

The SEC winner has a guaranteed national championship game berth.

The Big 12's best is a contender. But another of those goofy ties could happen: A&M beats OSU, OU beats A&M, OSU beats OU. Mix in Texas as a title contender. The Florida State game could save the Sooners. Now who hates scheduling tough teams?

The winner of Nebraska at Wisconsin Oct. 1 is a contender.

Boise State is undefeated and probably has the Heisman winner and is a contender.

Stanford is a contender.

Virginia Tech could be a contender.

Five or six teams deserving two spots, the crock could boil over.

Too bad about the conference dash for cash derby, I always enjoyed the "neighborhood" scramble & then taking on the rest during the holidays & wanting wins for the conference squads....

Now it's just like the disappearance of New Year's Day big bowl games, a fading memory created by the quest for more money by the powers that be.... It's not for the players, the fans, or the integrity of the game, it's for the money....

Where's a fan revolt?
JCD1978 (last year)
The Picker, I do not know about a revolt, but I did not renew my season tickets at OSU last season and did not purchase any this season because of the total disregard for fans exhibited by Mike Holder. They will have plenty of folks in the seats, but I'll spend my money locally.

I just hope this is the last year of automatic BCS spots for crappy conferences with no championship game. The Big 12 and Big East are completely undeserving of an automatic BCS game...glad to hear the remnants of each conference might be getting together.

Picker, I think voters will be torn with a 1 or 2 loss SEC champion if there are two undefeated's out there. If you're a voter, you almost have to put an SEC team in the NC game.

I agree with 918 that the Big Least does not deserve an AQ status. Neither does Notre Dame...when was the last time the Irish were truly relevant? When Lou Holtz was coach. There should be 2 rules conferences wanting an auto BCS bid need to adhere to 1) You must have a conference championship game, meaning you have to have at least 12 teams and 2) Teams who schedule a non-FBS opponent AT ALL should be disqualified from BCS consideration. It will make teams schedule tougher games. Schools should also have to schedule at least 1 road non-conference game per season.

Pick-man, given that aTm is gone to a conference that our two state schools won't be in, is there a better prospect for a "major Texas connection" for our schools than a pod with Texas and Tech in the Pac?

With MO likely following Aggie to the SEC, do you really prefer a watered-down conference with Baylor, Houston, TCU, Rice and the remnant of the Big XII?

Tell me you're not messin' with us when you protest us four going to the Pac.

The Pac12 doesn't want OU/Okie St/T-tech because TEXAS won't share but yet they want all that the PAC12 offers....

Neb/Colo/TA&M/Mizzou take off because of TEXAS....

TEXAS wants full conference rights & honors but yet they don't want to share THEIR wealth but they want a conference share....

WHY IS Okla/Okie St AFRAID to enter into the SEC ????

The SEC east would look like OU/OSU/Mizzou/T-A&M/LSU/Ark/Miss/Miss St.

What's so scary about that ????

Sigh. 80th verse, same as first.

Recruiting in Texas would not dry. We've all been over this. It especially wouldn't dry if both Tech and UT ended up in the same conference as OU and OSU. Unfortunately, prideful and egotistical Texas would rather go down with the faulty ship it designed than admit it screwed the pooch and swim to safer waters.

Second, if the three way tie worked as the Picker explained, OSU would be the conference champ. The early loss to A&M would be beneficial as OSU would have time to climb back into the top 7 or 8. A&M's loss to OU would put A&M back behind OSU. Then in the finale, OSU beating OU would have the Pokes leapfrogging them in the final standings.

Boise State is not a contender. Did anyone even watch that game against Toledo? They looked extremely suspect. If Kinne was available this weekend, I'd bet on Tulsa at least covering the spread if not winning outright.

@JCD1978: Good riddance.

@Soko: Don't confuse the Picker with reality. His world is located under a foot of sand and he likes it that way.

@Tulsandn: It's all about balance. Having that many great teams in one conference simply isn't fair to all those teams.

Quick! What bowl game does the 5th place SEC team go to? OU could very well be playing in it. Where would OSU be? Sounds awful to me.

Besides, do you really want to be lumped in with a bunch of backwood fans chanting "S-E-C-! S-E-C!" after any win? Count me out.

Maybe now you people will realize that the media has wasted the paper from a thousand trees on rumor and gossip. Maybe now you people will realize that the OKC media clowns have bee wrong 110 percent of the time. They staked their reputations on an OU, OSU, Texas and Texas Tech move to the Rat Pac Ten. Maybe now you people will realize that the only one with a clue works right here.

Mike...really?

If four different Big 12 teams won the last 5 national championships...you don't think every backwoods fan in the Big 12 would be chanting?

tulsandn (last year)
We got just as many backwoods fans as every one of them SEC backwooders do, we takes a backwoods seat to no one !!!!
MexiMike (last year)
love 918, they would be chanting their team's name...not the conference name.

The SEC thinks the Civil War is still going. It's them versus the rest of the United States. I'm not joking.

I want no part of that.
love 918 (last year)
Kind of a moot argument since the last Big 12 team to win a national championship (other than UT or OU) was ATM in 1939.
