It’s now the 2013 Bassmaster Classic Presented by Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

Represenatives of the casino, BASS, the Cherokee Nation, Tulsa Sports Commission, VisitTulsa and the Tulsa Regional Chamber announced this morning that the Hard Rock has signed on to be the presenting sponsor for the 2013 Bassmaster Classic set for Feb. 22-24 at Grand Lake O’ The Cherokees and Tulsa.

The resort’s brand will be prominent throughout the event and in subsequent television broadcast of the Classic on ESPN2 in March.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker recognized the event as an economic boost for northeast Oklahoma and Cherokee communities. “We are pleased to partner with BASS and the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s Tulsa Sports Commission to make this wonderful event possible,” he said.

Ray Hoyt, senior vice president of VisitTulsa and the Tulsa Sports Commission, said the group worked in many people, local organizations and businesses to bring the Classic to northeast Oklahoma. “We’re excited to announce today that Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa, owned by the Cherokee Nation, has elected to join that group and will act as local Presenting Sponsor for the prestigious event. Their support is sure to amplify the Classic, and we’re excited to have them on board.

The Outdoors

Kelly Bostian is an Iowa boy who developed a knack for writing about the outdoors as a college kid - way back when wild turkeys were scarce - at Iowa State University. He comes to Oklahoma by way of Alaska, where he worked 23 years as outdoor editor and later managing editor of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. He comes to Green Country with two beautiful daughters, an extraordinarily tolerant wife, and an 11-year-old female black Labrador retriever named Tag, who knows she's actually the brains behind everything that Kelly does.
