G.J. Kinne, recently announced as the new starting quarterback for the University of Tulsa football team, hasn't played a down yet, but he's already better than 42 Division I (alias FBS) starting QBs.
Who says? Bob Asmussen of the News-Gazette, an Illinois newspaper based in Champaign-Urbana.
Asmussen -- and I respect mightily when people undertake projects of a grand scale -- ranked the starting quarterbacks of every Division I school from No. 1 to No. 120.
No. 1 was Colt McCoy. No. 2 was Sam Bradford. No. 3 was Tim Tebow (hey, Bob, brace yourself for Gator-hater mail).
Oklahoma State's Zac Robinson was No. 15.
If you're wondering, the poor guy who got stuck with the No. 120 label was Washingon State's Kevin Lopina. Tulane's new starting quarterback, Joe Kemp, is No. 106.

Tulsa World sports writer Jimmie Tramel is a former class president at Locust Grove High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern State University with a journalism degree and, while attending college, was sports editor of the Pryor Daily Times. He joined the Tulsa World on Oct. 17, 1989, the same day an earthquake struck the World Series. He is the OSU basketball beat writer and a columnist and feature writer during football season. In 2007, he wrote a book about Oklahoma State football with former Cowboy coach Pat Jones.
