Hey Kelvin!

How long until this sign changes?
AP

Hey Kelvin: How are things up there in Indiana? Pretty nippy, huh.

Same here. Only the frost in these parts is not on the pumpkins. The ice here is on the basketballs.

The OU team you left by the side of the road as you moved to the big time just played Villanova on national television, scoring 51, about the same number of people in the stands.

The poor guy following you as coach, Capel, was savaged the morning after by the Oklahoma City radio homers, namely a guy called Hump. You probably rememeber him. He still thinks you're great, even though you broke NCAA rules and left the OU hoop program what it is today. Hump is the one predicting national championships for the Sooners the way the TV meteorologigst predict a cold wind in the winter.

With the recruits bailing when you did, the OU team could not hit the broad side of the barn from the inside against Villanova.

Given the trendy nature of fans, and the competition for the dollar, it seems obvious that the pro Hornets will be the game of choice around Norman and Oklahoma City this winter.

But enough about the chaos in Norman.

How are things in Hoosierland?

Any great scorers transfer yet?

How many points you plan to average in conference play, 49?

Going to make the tournament?

We'll be watching.

You get time, you might send flowers to the OU gym.

So does TU beat OU on Dec. 21??

That's right, the All College business, Pitt versus OSU in the other one.

That game will probably be pretty close to even when it comes to point spreads, wouldn't you guess, maybe TU favored a couple.

The new TU guard is solid.

Seeing as how OU can't shoot, catch or pass, you'd think TU would win.

That new OU coach, talk about somebody who deserves support after what was dumped on him.

Can someone explain to me why ORU gets the shaft in this? I think Oklahoma should be proud of its four major baskestball programs. There is no reason why the All-College hoop-de-do shouldn't feature OU, OSU, TU and ORU. And my, my, how the times have changed if the Hurricane indeed are favored over the Sooners. That tells me one thing: the TU coach won't be around much longer.

You people are funny. Keep it up.

I don't know what to think about ORU. Ever.

Some people like being the best team in a bad conference. I don't know why. You always get stepped on my a number one or two tournament seed.

I went to the TU-ORU game. TU bullied those guys.

I don't see how ORU can ever be anything better than the 4th best team in the state (or you can look at it the reverse way). Yes, they have up years, but only when the other schools are down. Caleb Green is probably the best catch by the Golden Eagles in a long time. But I still think they put out a respectable team on the court. Schools like George Mason last year show that any school can make a run in the tournament, albeit rare.

Very good write up!!

On Bowls...every BCS game but one has a line of 8 points or more. Isn't there something ridiculously wrong with that? Doesn't that scream "screwed up?"
world picker (6 years ago)
Chris: The bowls are usually an underdog's paradise -- the favorites always think they're better than they are and should be in a nicer place, and the dogs are hungry and just glad to be alive.

I saw something out of Vegas saying it's swung back the other way slightly, something like 53-47 bowl underdogs the last couple of years.

Usually there are a few bowl games with teams favored in the teens. How many decent bowls you see, six, seven? Out of how many, a hundred ten?

Illinois fan here. We're as mad at Kelvin as much as you are. Great Kelvin Sampson hater t-shirts at all-wear dot com I think you can choose your own colors too. I know the orange crush have been wearing them already. Just think how it's gonna be when Indiana travels to Illinois. Just in case you haven't heard, he stole Illinois recruit Eric Gordon from under our feet. I'd be glad he was gone too. Good luck this year.
