Hi Bob, Lovely Seeing You Again
Published: 6/9/2008 4:07 PM
Last Modified: 6/9/2008 4:07 PM

Last week, the Sooner Caravan pulled into town and drew a couple of hundred people.

A COUPLE HUNDRED PEOPLE?

FOR BOB STOOPS?

Most days you can find more than a couple hundred people eating Boomer-cue at Billy S's place!

Granted, the weather was a little rough.

But we're talking about the crown prince of OU football, second only to the King.

A couple hundred people? A couple hundred people stand in line to purchase OU toilet seat covers. A couple hundred people stand in line to get the second team center's autograph. A couple hundred people listen to the Homer Hour on Sports Animal radio network. A couple hundred people are hired to serve cocktails to people coming to see and hear Stoops. A couple hundred people are probably laying out their gear for the home opener.

A couple hundred people?

Are the fans speaking?

Are the fans saying that conference championships followed by bowl disasters are becoming tedious?

Are the fans saying we love you Bob, now win a big bowl game?

Funny how two straight embarrassing games in the desert take the shine of a coach isn't it?
TAB (5 years ago)
Well, maybe it's a healthy sign. It is June, after all. There are things out there other than football, even in Oklahoma. He's a good coach and OU is lucky to have him. But I'll admit I got a good belly laugh out of your work, Dear Picker.

A couple hundred people line to buy OU toilet seat covers because OSU fans want to do their business on OU. Sorry, couldn't resist. I am amazed as well. A couple hundred people line up to see Gundy and the best thing he ever did happened twenty years ago. Looks like the toilet seat cover is the closest we've been to beating OU for a while.

Jay:

I think it was the weather. Having your table blow over and pin you to the ground will discourage attendance.

Are the fans saying that OU football is the hottest ticket in the state? Last I heard there were over 5,000 season ticket requests above capacity.

I will take the conference championships and bowl appearances anytime, I don't have fond memories of the 90's watching others play for the Big 12 title.

Things are slow this time of year for you, are they not?

Maybe it had something to do with the $30.00 Ttcket, while the other caravan towns paid $25.00?

We have been avid OU fans for EVER, my husband stood in line for over an hour f/signature & wanted him to sign To:....
he said he didn't have TIME, there were too many people waiting!!!! 2 WORDS & he didn't have the time, WELL EXCUSE ME!! He needs to stop & think who helps support his hefty salary. The whole event was a big disappointment.

I outcoached this bonehead!
Tbone (5 years ago)
Gosh, I didn't see Bob make one catch or make one tackle in the games with Boise State and West Virginia. Must have slept through the games.

TBone -- That was because Venables said he had everything under control.
lori (5 years ago)
Not everyone wanted to pay $30 for a cold and overcooked meal while standing in line to wait for Bob's autograph.
Nit Picker (5 years ago)
World Picker, it is impossible for a couple hundred a minute to read your blog because:

1. All of your bigotted minions have to find someone to read it to them--takes a long time to find that many literati in your circle of chumps.
2. All of them then have to contact you and have it explained to them-again this takes a long time, even if you talk slowly.
3. That only leaves me and maybe two or three other readers - depending on whether Katy bolts or not.

Get serious, World Picker, you are a seat filler, and nothing more and I am determined to flush you out so you can be held accountable for your crap.
(Thanks for the inspiration, Arthur).

If gasoline is $5/gal when the college FB season kicks off, will T-Bone Pickens distribute rebates to out of town season ticket holders for home games?

What kind of mileage does a Winnebago get anyway? Maybe we can watch the OSU games on T-V. Maybe not. Probably not.

Everyone who thinks World Picker should be fired, please buy OSU Season Tickets.
We will tally the votes in August.

I have to say NIT Picker, I'm quite disappointed in your rant. Usually, I am at least curious to see what you will say in reference to the WP's latest blog. Granted, the rants always have the same spin, but I am entertained nonetheless. On this occassion though, your commentary has nothing to do with the blog itself. Then, you go out into left field and start talking about OSU and "T-Bone" Pickens (T-Bone? Really? Don't be that guy). Come on now. You can do better.
Chris (5 years ago)
Agree Mike,

Where does OSU fit in this story? Nit Pickers seems to be the typical OU fan, I'm afraid.

Also, you read and comment on nearly every Picker blog. You seem to fit into the "All of your bigotted minions" that you referenced in your silly rant.

Sad.

To Chris and Mike:

I rest my case.

Nit Picker: If you are not a compulsive obsessive OU homer failed hack writer stalker, then why can't you simply go away?
Nit Picker (5 years ago)
World Picker, calm down and take your meds. Give your shrink a call, quick.

When confronted by someone with a different point of view, you and your minions always scream 'shut up', or 'go away'. Not really a defensible position for one who takes full advantage of the perks afforded you by free speech. Anonymous free speech at that.

Nonetheless, it is too bad you appear to take everything so seriously. I thought my observations were neutral, clever, timely and funny. Subtle to be sure, but still very funny and original.

You, however, are starting to rant. A sure sign of frustration. Take a break. Call a TU grad and have him/her read you a book; something to do with anger management maybe.

Nit Picker...really, man, ease off. I've read your fevered comments for far too long. Your raison d'etre appears to be nothing more than to rile those far more tolerant, better educated, and more erudite than yourself. A sad situation, indeed. Your altogether obnoxious approach to blogging has proven alienating and nauseating to those of us who visit these sites on occasion, so instead of teeing off on you I'll simply offer these helpful numbers: Parkside Mental Health can be reached at (918) 582-2131, and Laureatte Mental Health Center is accessible at (800) 302-5173. And please don't be tossing stones at the Picker's thinly veiled annonymity when you, yourself, are cowering behind total obscurity.
TAB (5 years ago)
Glad to know Nitpicker found his library card. I always enjoy a good laugh at his expense, though I worry about how his recognition that we all think him to be a clown affects his mental health. Good job giving him the phone numbers.
Nit Picker (5 years ago)
To SH*T K*CKER

I am typing this slowly so you can read it.

I am familiar with the institutions you mentioned: I visit your family there on holidays.

'anonymity' has two 'n's, not three.

'obscurity' is not a synonym for it.

Did your mama really name you SH*T K*CKER? Or is that just a term of endearment?

Even as a World Picker minion, don't you find it uber ironic that you are critical of someone using a pseudomyn?

Since you and TAB haven't a clue, here is one for you:
Arthur, post #18, mentioned OU fans buying OU toilet seats.

Quick, duck! I'm tossing another stone.

Is it fair to say you and TAB are WP homers? Of course it is. Kiss, kiss.

Write again. Soon.

To Mike and Chris: Don't go away mad guys. The rules clearly state that the posts constitute part of the blog and Arthur mentioned OSU and TBONE hisself posted.
Come back, please. WP is getting nervous.
Sh*t K*cker (5 years ago)
To Nit Picker...Listen, stupid, it really isn't very complicated. It doesn't matter how slowly you type, dumb*ss (and I have absolutely no doubt that you type very, very slowly), the scrambled segment of gibberish you compose comes across the screen as soon as you submit it. I realize that's probably far too abstract a concept for you, but there it is. Although I have no degree in psychology, it's relatively simple to draw a few basic conclusions about your background: reject by and/or treated with sarcasm by parents...trouble maintaining close, personal relationships...child beating not outside the realm of possibility...am I close? This is my last missive to you. Seek help. I offer that with compassion.
Nit Picker (5 years ago)
SH*T K*CKER:

No, you are not close. Light years separate you from close.

Write again after you take your meds, but for your own sake, take your meds. Please. We are all pulling for you, man. I say that with compunction.

PS. What's another word for "thesaurus"?

Bob Stoops needs remember how to win a bowl game in January. The annual meltdown/no-shows are getting embarassing. OU fans who went to the last three BCS games should demand a refund on their tickets.
