Hire Stoops or Gundy?

Somebody sent an email asking who we would hire today as head football coach, Stoops or Gundy?
We started to write back saying get serious.
Then we started thinking.
Who's hot?
Soon there will be teenagers who weren't born when Stoops last won his national title. He has been consistently strong in a good way, not great. Gundy was a flop against Iowa State away from a national title game. Was it Gundy or was it the quarterback? Soon we'll know.
Who is flexible?
Stoops' staff has been a good 'ol boys club forever, reinforced by the return of his volcanic brother, who couldn't stop traffic at Arizona. Gundy quit calling plays just in time.
Recruiting?
OU seems to have drifted slightly away from Texas toward jucos and strangers from faraway places. Everybody knows what a truck load of jucos means: trouble. OSU's stadium is a monster perk that is landing lots of hightly recruited players.
Sense of humor?
Stoops has been known to get defensive from, "How's the weather?" Gundy has been known to dance.
So it's much closer than once thought. If we were hiring a head coach today, we'd take Stoops barely, because it's been so long since he won the big one, he has to be motivated again.
Next year, the one after, who could predict for sure who would be the hire.

I am an OU sooner through and through, but, I might be tempted to take the 'man' if I were picking.

Let's see what the 'man' does after losing his two star players. I'll take Stoops any day.

Picker you are brutal (stop traffic at Arizona). I say bring back Bud Wilkinson or his clone.

Stoops' national title is fading from memory.

You Ags (and your poster boy, Nosepicker) are putting too many funky prairie grasses in your paraphenalia pipes that are so rampant in Stillwater. This is not even a conversation for anyone with any intellectual honesty. An accomplished national championship will always be better than the DREAM of one. 7 Real conference championships (by winning a championship game after the regular season) will alway be better than a single * conference championship.
Put down the pipes!!!

Still a Sooner fan, but if Gundy had coached the talent that OU has, maybe he would have equaled or bettered Stoops. Just saying. Of course, recruiting is part of coaching and Stoops does bring in A class talent. I still think Gundy is a better coach. The state of Oklahoma is lucky to have them both. I like the guy at TU also.
