We like Oregon over OU as much as we liked BYU over TU.

Thank you and good afternoon.

"Humble" was left out of The Picker's Profile by mistake.

We're 4-9-1 going into tonight's pro double snoozer.

We must take our bow where we can find it this week.

Wolfie, The Picker has no understanding of the word, "Humble."
Mr. Picker, you should be worried about your pick in OU -vs- OU now that the Oklahoma quarterback is throwing in the general direction of his receivers. They could score points and the Oregon defense hasn't done anything yet. What say you buy Wolfie and me a beer if you're wrong? What say you also buy Wolfie and me a beer if you're right?

Starbucks latte?

Since Gene likes OU, I'm putting another star on the Oregon pick, now it's up to a 13-star selection.

Separated at birth: Bob Stoops and Jimmy Connors?

Mr. Picker, I saw a list of ALL of the people who beat you this week and can only imagine your total embarrassment. What is the subject of conversation when you meet with the folks who offer the prizes at the end of your contest? If they have started to look for your replacement have them call Wolfie and me. One more thing . . . how many stars do you usually assign to your Lock of the Year and aren't you getting close with Oregon?
world picker (6 years ago)
Until this game came along, we have never issued more than one and three quarters stars.

In these troubled times, we feel it important to lose on purpose sometimes.

Are you guys crazy? EVERYONE was gushing over how TU was going to go and take care of BYU. And one guy actually stood up and said (excuse the phrase...) NOT SO FAST.
While some "eliteists" are trying to label the Sooners as the second coming of the triplets... the Picker sees through that. SO WHAT, a few needy folks get a few extra T-Shirts. Big Deal.
world picker (6 years ago)
No, Evil Monkey is not our uncle.
But he has good sense.
T-shirts?
What stinking t-shirts?
What we give away here is joy.

If you know a referee, please ask him to keep his flag to himself.

Now that their incompetence over ball possession has been exposed by review, the refs have moved on to make a mockery of interference and holding calls.

Zebras should have their names and phone numbers on their shirts -- names, positively.

After refs, the next worse things on television this season are announcers.

Fox pre-game used to be great. James Brown moved to CBS. Obviously he was the brains of the operation. Now Fox has one more clown trying to be funny, Joe Buck, and the show has devolved into dueling cheap shots.

Chris Berman wears short-sleeve dress shirts with sport coats, enough said.

Stuart Scott should demonstrate the pancake block from the skillet's perspective.

The high-pitched drone of announcer Phil Simms resembles the tooth-drilling scene in Marathon Man.

Watch some football with the Mute on, it's heaven.

You pill...pickin Oregon over my Sooners. If you don't straighten up I may have to put you on the same list as Lee Corso.

In your picker column you state that OU hasn't been the same since Mike Leach left. Never a truer statement, OU was 7-4 with him 7-5 counting the bowl game he missed. Yep, we miss him 8-4 is the worst since he's been gone surely you meant Mike Stoops.

In your picks you have now mentioned something twice about OSU not being on TV. I guess you probably have Cox and didn't realize that the ASU game was on TV. Plus the Houston game will be televised next week. I know they are crappy outlets, and the games are against inferior opponents. Although they are still televised, and I personally get to watch. That is all I care about.

BTW, since you think that there will need to be some seats covered up in Stillwater this week, how many exactly do you think will be there?
world picker (6 years ago)
In response to the last couple of good readers.

We clearly meant OU has not had a sense of humor or high quality passing game since Leach left.

We predict that 41,446 people will attend the Florida Aquatic game.

Well after reading your pick'em column yesterday, I'm worried about my pick'ems. I agreed with you on way too many of those games. Man, I hate when that happens.

Very funny Echo.
Very funny Echo.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
