Hold on to our Chili Bowl

Cities spend thousands of dollars to lure major sports events.
It is a huge business and it takes money to make money.
Tulsa, like every other major city, spends a great deal of money and time to bring events to Tulsa.
Next year's Conference USA Basketball Tournament at the BOK Center is a good example of something brought to town by persistence and a major effort.
But, Tulsa officials should put as much effort and energy in keeping the Chili Bowl.
The Chili Bowl isn't something they have to lure to Tulsa. We already have it. And, Emmett Hahn, the co-founder and promoter, has let it be known he doesn't want to move.
Yet, other folks are out there that would love to lure the Chili Bowl to another city.
Don't let Tulsa get beat in this deal. The Chili Bowl is a huge economic event in Tulsa. It is in the perfect building at Expo Square and has a guaranteed fan base ready to sell it out every year.
Keeping the Chili Bowl should be the top priority of sports folks in this town.

Tulsa has always missed the boat or car when it comes to any type of auto racing. They (the paper and other media) in Tulsa has it heads up stick and ball sports rearend so far they cannot see another sports.
Or as I have in the past 20-30 years sports reporters are lazy, they will not learn about another sport outside of what they now cover.
Tulsa ran off the NHRA world finals
in the late 60's. THAT event is
worth about 12-15 million in tourist dollars at it's present site, or about what the present Chile Bowl is worth to "T" town.
Both events are NOT property tax funded HS sports, they are free interprise.

Roger Winton hits it right!
As I remember the NHRA finals hosted close to 30,000 spectators during the 1966 event. Not included in that number were the competitors, thier crews and supporters. I wonder what that would be worth to Tulsa today?
As for Emmit Hahn-Tulsa, get down on your knees and beg him to keep the Chili Bowl here. If for nothing else but the added income to the Tulsa area!!!
Stick and ball, golf, tennis, etc. are merely games. Auto racing is one of the three true sports according to Earnst Hemmingway. I suspect the "sports elite" of Tulsey Town won't agree with that.
Oh well.

I would like to say to one and all. Why would you even think of letting this event leave your town. Emmit Hahn and the staff he puts togather for this event are second to none. My team and family have been attending the Chili Bowl for the last 6 years. We have come to know some of the staff that work the event. One group that does not get the thanks for all the hard work they put into makeing the show the show it is the group that watches the doors and helps everyone at the gates to the ramp to the track its self. We have only had one person of the group as we call them the flying bee's because they do it all. IE worker Bee's that we do not care to deal with. He told my husband he was the person in charge of all the staff for the chili bowl he said he is name was Daryl. On the night of the A-main we watched him Cus out a young girl at the top of the ramp to the track and then he went over to on other gentelman on the ramp and cussed him out too. The girl could not have been more the 15 years old. I asked who he was he turned to me and told me mind my own ------- bizz. I dont know what the girl had done but I know myself and many others around us did not care to see the way this girl was being treated by this man. I feel he does not need to be working around this outstanding group of people. I was truly shocked that someone in the crowd did not start a fight with this man after the way he did the girl.

If this Man as you called him would have talked to that kid infront of me that way they may as well called the police deptment out. Because I would have had to been pulled off of him for the way he talked to that young girl. This is the kind of BOY that makes the thing look cheep If I where Emmit Hahn I would want to find out who this Daryl is and tell him he is no longer needed or wanted at his chili bowl events or even the Tulsa Shoot-Out I do belive it is the same group that puts on both shows. If this BOY works for the fair grounds group he needs to be let go.The Chili Bowl goes from a class act to the dog house fast with this kind of acts. FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO BE THE LEADER.

You know there are a lot of people out there dishing Daryl from the Chili Bowl without even knowing the facts. First of all, I know all about his yelling at the young girl. This girl was his neice and he didn't start yelling at her until after she refused to be moved to another location. I know becasue I heard and saw everything that happened. Yes he was in charge of staff and that meant he was also in charge of her. She was not doing anything at her station, she wasn't ever checking wrist bands AS WAS HER DUTY! Other staff members asked to have her moved to another location. And as for the man he yelled at, well that was his brother in law...a guy that only shows up to the chili bowl for a free pass and doesn't doing anything but walk around, mostly watching the races when he's supposed to be working like the other staff members. So I suggest everyone minding their own business just like this Daryl supposedly told you to do especially since it was a family squabble and you don't know all the facts.

Well from what I see we can tell who sleeps with who here. So now we know the BOY Daryl's last name too thanks Susan if that is your real name. Sounds like you are a real winner yourself for letting this happen too. Because if I was related to this cump of a boy I wouldn't be defending him it dont matter if this was his neice or not. Hes how old to treat a young girl like that. Sounds like to me he needs to be the one to be put in his place and and you call yourself a true woman for defending scum like this.
They do say love is blind. Must be a two way highway here. As for the Man you say was his brother in law. How do you know it was his brother in law oh thats right you are Daryl's wife I see. Man If I knew if you had kids between the two of you I would need to call DHS/CPS because if he talks to this young girl who is a neice I can just think how he treats his own kids. I have to say you both are the true meaning of trailer trash in america. I can see the trailor and a old pickup and food stamps to feed seven kids and waiting on the wellfair check so you can go to the casino. Your 3 month in the rears on the trailor but you'll win it all back on penny slots after the check comes in the mail you have a system. Oh i'm sorry I said a word you dont understand (rears) that means you have not paid the for it in 3 months. They cant get ahold of you because the phone is off too.
