All right, on the count of three, everybody put down your cheerleading gear.

Question: As of this second, is ORU's basketball season a success?

Answer: One hundred percent, no!

When you play in one of the worst conferences in the country, and when you have what some consider to be pro-type talent, getting to the NCAA tournament is not enough.

At some point, some decade, you must win a tournament game.

If ORU is one and run, the season is a big, fat disappointment.

Question: Is the OU womens' basketball team really improving?

Answer: Not much.

Many times, improvement is an illusion. What you do is play worse teams and fool the press.

One month ago, we here at the Picks called for OU to become more athletic. A new guard was inserted into the starting line-up immediately. That helped some. But the Sooners are still not on the level of the top four or five elite teams.

Question: Can Sean Sutton coach?

Answer: Don't know. But it's a legitimate question.

Question: Is it true that the hillbillies Phil and Brent at KMOD radio attacked the Picker the other morning?

Answer: The rumor is yes. But we can't find anybody who listens to confirm it.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
