There has never been a more wide-open college basketball situation.

Florida is a bit cumbersome, and everybody knows how tough it is to repeat.

Duke is not athletic, causing Vitale heartache.

North Carolina and Ohio State are streaky, State is probably best, but is from a slightly lame conference.

Wisconsin, please.

The Aggies don't score enough.

West coast teams, who knows, we see them once every three weeks.

Somebody like Southern Illinois will play the last weekend.

Kansas is the best team in the country.

It has speed, power, depth.

The half-court offense is average. But KU's transition game is memorable.

If Super Bill Self doesn't get this bunch to the Final Four, somebody might start wondering why he is so highly regarded.

Is it OK for TU to be so excited about getting to the NIT?

Sure, why not, after where the former coach left this program.

I said before I think TU needs 20 wins to get to the NIT. Now they have to win out and get a conference tournament win to reach that. I just don't see that happening, as much as I hate to admit it. Besides, the first NIT game will likely not be at TU, so it's just another road loss. Right now, I don't think it really matters.

I don't see TU in the NIT, either, and I'm a TU homer. This year kind of reminds me of Self's first season at TU. We have some good, young players but I can't really put my finger on one thing that is determinative, other than youth and an overly-guard oriented offense. If the shots aren't falling, TU can't win. If you leave it up to the guards that much, you'll be .500 because that strategy is going to work about half of the time. I think TU wins Saturday and at SMU, but loses at Rice. That would make them .500 in conference. Not very excited with how this season is winding down.

TU needs a big-time scorer, fast.

The overall level of talent is better than where what's-his-name left TU, which was below sea level.

But it needs a crowd fave.

In related nightmares: The last time OU and OSU missed the big tournament was 1981!

Hard to believe they're wasting the home field advantage of the Big 12 tournament.

Here's a question, no disrespect intended: Is Sean Sutton a good coach?

The best son to follow a dad is at Georgetown; but Junior left and went to Princeton.

Well.....it's almost spring football season.

How about the refs this past weekend? Where do they find these bozos? Several local games were ruined by bad officials. At least it looks like Wojcik learned how to get the TU crowd going -- get 'em mad at the refs. I wonder if TU's big time scorer is already on the team, but is just playing his first year of D-1 ball.
