How 'Bout Them Cows?

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. TONY GUTIERREZ/AP

The Dallas Cowboys are again among the favorites to win the Super Bowl, right in there around the top five, something like tied with Baltimore, which has zero chance to win anything.

Dallas is an illusion.

It looks good on paper. It sounds good. It looks looks good on the sideline. It looks good on film. It looks good in stories. It looks good in the fantasy world. In bars.

Yet it can't win anything.

Here's why.

1. A meddling owner.

What with all the losses, coach Jerry's face appears due for a tune up. He thinks he knows football. He knows money. He knows about as much football as the average fantasty player. His history with coaching hires is comical. He hires softies who leave him with the last word, and loss.

2. Tony Turnover.

The feisty quarterback is among the best ever between the tens. In the money zones, which to to say that when the heat is on, Romo's turnovers take on epic repercussions. He fumbles and throws interceptions going in and coming out. His turnovers in the white hot zone are predictable. He dances with the best of them on the 50. He throws zingers on the 40s. He scrambles free on the 30s. Inside the 20s, he gets nervous feet, twitchy eyes, a weak arm. So far his career can be summed up thusly: A fantasy champion, a real field joke.

Jealousy of the Cowboys reaches incredible levels in these parts. Accept it: THE DALLAS COWBOYS ARE THE YANKEES OF THE NFL! More Super Bowl appearances than any franchise in NFL history, 5 Super Bowl wins, best uniforms, best owner (yet another thing people can't accept...Jerry generally annoys those who hate the Cowboys).

Jerry has made his mistakes, but I'd much rather have an owner with the will to win and one that is willing to spend over an apathetic owner any day.

Just sit back and enjoy the greatness this year pick! I'll say 12-4 and we'll see what happens in the playoffs, but ending with confetti in Indy wouldn't and shouldn't surprise anyone.

Golden Hurricane, nobody mentioned the past, and the distant past at that.

It's usually the case that anybody stuck in the past has an unpleasant present.

The Cowboys going 12-4 ??? What have they done to improve over last year's fiasco? Better coaching? Check. They went from horrible to mediocre. Better QB? Check. Romo is back, so they go from inept to average. Wide receiver? Check. Roy Williams is gone; if nothing else, the bling and rocks worn by the receivers this year will dazzle and confuse a few DBs. What does it all add up to? 9-7 at best, more likely 7-9. Followed by more dumb trades forced by coach Jerry.

Don't test me Exile...one more word from you and they go 13-3...keep mouthing and the win total goes up by one with every jealous word you spout!
