If OSU wins Monday, road to NIT Final Four goes through Stillwater

Thanks to a Saturday development, something new is at stake for Oklahoma State in the NIT: The Cowboys, if they can clear a road hurdle, will get to play one more game at Gallagher-Iba Arena.

No. 3 seed OSU plays a second-round NIT game Monday night at No. 2 seed Washington State. The Cowboys are trekking to Pullman, Wash., because higher-seeded teams are granted home games in the NIT.

The OSU-Washington State survivor will play a third-round home game because No. 1 seed Boston College was ambushed in a second-round game Saturday by No. 4 seed Northwestern.

Bottom line: If OSU wins Monday, the Cowboys will play a third-round home game against Northwestern and a trip to the NIT Final Four at Madison Square Garden will be at stake.

OSU has never lost to a non-Big 12 opponent at Gallagher-Iba Arena in coach Travis Ford’s three seasons.

Hopefully the Pokes will be fired up to take care of business on Monday night! I'd love to see a Northwestern/OSU match up this year.
