If OU Upsets OSU...

(a) Both will feel like winners.
(b) The entire state will benefit.
(c) It will the choke of the century.

The answer is C.

OU is not entirely in the role of a spoliler because it still has a chance to play for the national title itself.

What OU has going for its case is a national distaste for rematches. Who wants to snooze through LSU 9, Alabama 8, or even an Oregon-LSU remake of the season opener.

Working in both OU's and OSU's favor is the absence of a Big 12 title game -- no good whatsoever can come from LSU-Georgia or Oregon-Who Cares.

The computers love OU, always have, always will, worst home loss in contemporary football history, no matter. That one computer is in Oklahoma.

Here is what voters will have to decide, pure and simple, if OU defeats OSU: Do I vote for a rematch or do I vote for the team that lost to Texas Tech at home?

OSU's opportunity comes along once in a lifetime -- play your hated rival at home for a berth in the biggest of games.

It won't be easy for OSU.

Medium Game Bob and defensive lifer Vulnerables have been known to sleep through dog bites -- OU is probably the nation's most upset on a year to year basis.

But given a foe they handle, they can focus with a psycho effort.

The pressure is already starting to show on Weeden, who is getting snippy with the national press for all the questions of his age.

The outcome will either be the success of a lifetime, or a choke to remember.

This is the top of sports.

Getting snippy because of hack journalists.

Does anyone, besides the homers, really believe that OU has a chance at the title game? It amazes me how many people think that OU should play for the NC every year no matter what their record is.

OU has a shot at the NC? Nope. Wishful thinking. Nevertheless, OU will be psyched into the nether regions at Stillwater. Orange tends to make them supermen. This OSU fan says take OU seriously, VERY seriously!

Losing to a 3-7 team in 2001 = choke
Losing to team with outside chance of making NCG = not a choke

Ever since the Tech game, all i have heard from the OU homers is how they are going to get back to the title game. Far as they are concerned, it is a forgone conclusion. Been pretty entertaining to listen to.

Both go on the road to Iowa St., what are the odds that Iowa St. goes 1-1 ????

It's usually cold & windy up there in Iowa in mid to late November.... Cold & wind creates havoc on passing teams....

This not the time to be thinking about them Sooners, it's time to be thinking about the weather in Ames.... When Barry Switzer was coaching the Cowboys, his Boyz barely edged a Cincinnati team & he was asked what he thought about them, he said it was like playing Iowa St.... The Bengal coach got upset but in reality, Barry's Wishbone Sooners ALWAYS had a tough time playing in Ames, Iowa....

Get over that Ames Iowa hurdle & then it can be all-out Bedlam....

Obviously I was wrong about schedule & the weather, my bad, sorry about that.... I'll try to be more attentive to details & meteorology in the future....

Then beat OU, case closed.

Homer. Case closed.

The weather will be perfect in Iowa, around 50 at the kickoff.

The lucky streak continues.

High 52 degrees. Will feel like 41 degrees. Sounds like maybe the wind won't be too bad.

Even the ground around here has been uneasy lately about this. Pokes would have to suffer an implosion of epic proportions to lose this one.

If OU beats them...but fails to make the title game...is there a trophy for wiping out both your rival and your entire league in a single game?

OU does have a good chance to make the national title game if it wins at Baylor, vs. Iowa State, and at OSU. Oregon most likely plays an 8-4 Arizona State team in Eugene. Assuming LSU wins out in the regular season, Alabama won't play on Dec. 3. OU will play at No. 2 OSU at the end of the season. It won't be easy to win all 3 of those games. The Baylor game is a possible trap game. Venables' D has been known to forget to show up against mid-level opponents. RG3 is a great athlete at QB who can both run and throw. OU's defense has had a history of having trouble with running QBs.

Pickman, three thoughts for you:

1. Glad to see that you apparently agree that a championship game does our conference absolutley no good. Leave it the way it is and the fact that OU and Texas are routinely top pre-season picks means that our undefeated champ will, just about every dang time, play for the marbles.

2. You can't have it both ways in Bedlam. Either:

(i) OU is a worthy opponent with possible MNC chances, you predict a spread of less than a Sharp kick, an oSu victory will certify them as legitimate champs, whereas an oSu loss would simply be a very disappointing loss to a real quality team (and anything but a choke); or

(ii) OU is too beat-up, they lost to Taco, they have no biz(and you should be mocking them for) fantacizing about a MNC shot, you predict oSu by more than 10 and a loss to OU would qualify as a choke.

3. How can the loser of a "Big" game, as you have continued to refine your definition over the years, possibly be considered a choker? Sure, OU losing homecoming to Taco is a certifiable choke, but would it be a choke for #5 OU to lose to #2 oSu and miss out on a share of the conference title and possible MNC shot? Under your definitions, the former isn't a Big game, whereas the latter is.

anyone confidently predicting OSU to beat OU is crazy or drunk! I agree that ths could be OSU's year to beat OU and go on to NC game, but this series, is so lopsided towards OU, so until they do it, sooners by 9, nuff said! Go Canes win CUSA!

For years da’ Snicker has made fun of Vendables “lack of” pass Defense & now you have soon to be Heisman winner OSU QB Weeden carving up teams like butter? OU has no one who can cover Blackman. Weedon is cool, calm, & confident in the pocket.

Interesting, OU leads the Big 12 in sacks at 25 but OSU has 18 sacks. Also Landry has been sacked twice in conference play while Weeden has been sacked 8 times.

OU is #1 in Red Zone Offense but OSU is #1 in Red Zone Defense

Why are we concerned about the wind in Ames on Friday night? Did anyone see Weeden's throws in the swirling west Texas wind? It won't matter!

OU needs to focus on that scrambling Baylor QB and nothing else right now...Bedlam will come soon enough...

So a new development in this weeks picks. Someone down there at the World (you, picker?) finally spelled Patriots correctly instead of the usual Patroits. Now I've seen it all and my luck will change. Look out! I'll be batting 500 in no time.

Pick and others:

Will OSU still get in the title game even if they lose to OU?

Think about it. No one will want a rematch (Bama or Oregon), Stanford lost and OU lost to a worse team.

Either OU or OSU will be in the title game.

P.S. Matt, no one thinks OU is qualified for a title shot when they have more than one loss (don't let hatred influence your objectivity).

Uncle Jed (last year)
OSU by at least 14.
