If You Can't Stand the Heat
Published: 4/25/2011 4:10 PM

In September, we picked Miami and the Lakers to play for it all in the NBA.

And we will admit that strong recent defensive showings by Boston have given us moments of concern. But old age should kick in soon with the Celtics, and Miami should prevail as predicted.

Speaking of great second-round match-ups, how about the Thunder versus the San Antonio-Memphis victor. Though creaky, we look for the westerners to prevail in seven games.

And how about our analysis of the Perkins trade. Perkins. You remember him. Big, solid guy. Few offensive skills. But tough. Good defender. Seems to enjoy fouling. Whereas the Hee Haw radio types out of OKC proclaimed Perkins as the savior, we concluded that it cleared out some stiffs and freed up the dangerous Obaka.

Long as the threes find a home, the Thunder is a major NBA player. More under bucket scoring is needed.

Classic... and the trend continues...hottest story in the NBA and the home state guy gets his name wrong...surely this is some sort of Picker attempt @ poitical humor or something...the kid is the biggest steal in the last 10 years of the draft... I B A K A!

The Grizzle will not lose to the Spurs....

Just think, Tulsa got a preview of the NBA 2nd round playoffs back in pre-season & this local rag dismissed the Memphis team as NBA sludge that was slung in Tulsa's direction....

Sad to say, the GRIZZLE will not lose to the THUNDER in the playoffs either.... They have a PG who is smarter than OKC's PG & just as fast with a better handle.... They have 2 defensive specialist's who can guard KD, one of them from Okie St.(the guy from Okie St. makes the Texas Longhorn soil himself), the Grizzle front line is more imposing than the THUNDER Texas Snarl & Congo Flyer.... THEY have a SHOOTING GUARD !!!! The THUNDER have a NON-SHOOTING guard....

The OKC 2nd unit is better than the GRIZZLE 2nd unit BUT the OKC coach gets scared & re-inserts then 1st unit just as the 2nd unit begins to take control of the game....

30 SHOTS last night for the POINT GUARD, the PG is SUPPOSED to SHARE the ball & get the ball to the SHOOTERS !!!! KEVIN DURANT, World Games Gold Medal MVP, widely considered a TOP 5 NBA PLAYER, 2-TIME NBA scoring champion, can not touch the ball in CRUNCH TIME because the MUSCLE-HEADED PG from LA-LA LAND decides it's HIS TIME !!!!

PASS THE D@#* BALL !!!!

Just my opinion....

I was watching the president when I wrote that!

I hear the Hee Haw squad on the radio was complaining about the guard taking 30 shots. Stop it people. The Thunder lost because the other team made a bunch of threes. Period. You can't win them all. And Nene turned the savior Perkins upside down. Again. Anybody notice Perkins got his 3? Flop? Dud? Late bloomer?

Wait a minute. Something stinks here bad. Smells like more backpedaling from the Picker.

First of all, everyone knew that Miami was great against lesser competition. It's when they played the big boys during the regular season that they fell flat on their faces.

I also love that the Picker boasted about Miami--but fell short of saying anything about a Lakers team that is being pushed extremely hard by the Hornets. That must have been a mistake, right?

And don't look now but here comes Picker trying into sneak into bed at 4am by supporting Perkins oh so slightly. Quite a different stance compared to the one he had a couple weeks ago.

By the way, how many games did the Pick bet that the Nuggets would win?

Follow up question--Which is more satisfying: Eating delicious pizza on the Pick's dollar or watching him have to eat crow?

The pick tonight is that Perkins doubles his average and scores seven.

In Game 5 alone, Perkins had 11 points and 9 rebounds in 30 minutes, finishing with a game best plus/minus of +9. In contrast, Nenad Krstic had a total of 4 points and 8 rebounds in the entire 4-game series vs. the Knicks.

If the Heat do indeed beat the Celtics, it will be because they gave up Perkins for Krstic and Green.

Time to confirm what most thought about the Celtic trade (except for the picker): getting rid of Krstic and to a lesser extent Green will be seen as one of the craftier personnel moves of the last few years. The only reason Krstic wasnt totally called out during his time with the Thunder is because people here are generally nice- even the journalists. The guy is a stiff and has no place in the athletic NBA. And if the C's think Green will eventually be Paul Pierce's successor, they are crazy(they quietly already know this I bet). AND, finding Ibaka in the jungle or wherever is the biggest steal in the last decade - league wide. It might not be this year but the Thunder will win a league title within the next 5 years.
