So what happened at Pebble Beach?

The chokers did their things.

Tiger has never won from behind in a major, can't overcome that kind of pressure. Big Ernie yips on one-footers. The head pro at the Stepford Country Club, Phil, looks for trouble to avoid the pressure that comes with routine. These characters haven't half the guts of Nicklaus and Trevino, etc.

And enough with the Pebble poetry. The greens looked like the back nine at Mohawk in February. It's a golf course with houses on it. Be quiet and hit it. Know-it-all Johnny Miller became the latest TV mouth to play the goof. He said the winner wouldn't win and said the guy who shot in the 80's would win.

In other shocking news, a highly regarded football recruit from the Oklahoma City area signed with Texas! And listed Nebraska as his number two choice! The recruit is a cornerback, most important position on the field.

Hey Stoops.

Hey Gundy.

Hey Graham.

How's the vacation going now?

Maybe OU needs a major upgrade in the cheerleading department. (Was it at Georgia that the southern belles met with the potential recruits during their visits to campus?) Unless things have greatly improved since I was there, TU should keep their gals out of sight. For OSU, T-Bone could try constructing a beach next to the athletic dorms. Some of their kids might actually think they are at Florida State.

Defensive Tackle is the most important position on the college football field, not corner.

And maybe the recruit wanted to get out of Oklahoma? Lots of kids often choose to go out of state for college.

I can't speak for Stoops but seeing how as OSU has picked up two recruits in the last four days, I highly doubt Gundy is vacationing.

yeah, boo to know it all media-types!
dear pot, meet my friend kettle....
you are one in the same my friend...and i'm col with it.

Did you notice that, in Oklahoma, a blog about pressure packed golf with a causal mention of a football recruit draws nothing but football responses. Getting back to the point, the Open was fun to watch.

Hey Picker...you should just not talk about recruiting, cuz you don't know jack about it.

UT was Turner's favorite school for a LONG time. Also, just in case you haven't noticed, OSU hasn't had a player sign from Millwood since Donovan Woods. That staff negatively recruits against OSU.

Stick to golf and crappy football predictions please.

Gene-o, it was fun. But why can't any of those clowns make a two-foot putt when it matters?
And golf at the Masters and Pebble Beach as a religious experience: The whole NBC coverage was lousy. Does Costas actually think anybody tunes in to hear him talk? It does say something about the culture when people know more about recruiting juniors in high school than, say, anything else.

Bigshow, you're saying that when Texas recruits one of the top players in Oklahoma it's no big deal? The scoreboard says something else. You're exactly right, we know nothing about high school recruiting. If we did, we'd see about having it fixed.

to all the piglets who hate on my boy the picker, it's okay. you'll just be crying into your crimson dishrags when the only team that matters in the small nine plus the biggin is wearing you out at the texas state fair this fall.

Wow, OK coaches must be out of the country. Picker tells us Texas is already SIGNING players while the OK schools are just gaining commitments for next year. Looks like somebody needs to cut their vacation short.

UT was Turner's favorite for a long time? That's kinda the point. Bet they wouldn't be his favorite if they'd lost the last few to OU.

Sorry Gene, I suppose I'll comment on what you're interested in rather than what I am interested in. Does that work better for you? I mean The Pick did in fact write 1/3 of this blog about recruiting, but don't let facts get in the way of your gross exaggerations.

Pick, in regards to Texas, so what? OU and OSU have failed to get several top recruits from Oklahoma over the years. Texas has failed to get several top recruits from the state of Texas. Sometimes, folks from Oklahoma want to go out of state to places, such as Texas, Tech, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

So (yawn), who won the U.S. Open? Some guy from Northern Ireland?
Glenn616 (3 years ago)
MexiMike, OU got 2 verbal commitments on June 8 and 1 on June 10. I don't think Stoops is vacationing either.
