All but two coaches can't sit still.

Can't stay, shouldn't go, what's a person to do.

The OSU offensive co-ordinator to West Virginia? Iffy. He's that great, he should be in line for something better.

The TU coach to Pitt? Medium name, talented state, little program, sounds like coach K to Louisville.

Look at what has happened to OU assistants: Hall, doing nothing as Penn State offensive brain; Chuck "Third and" Long, Mangino, Leach, all in the doldrums. Gibbs is something like the kickoff coach at KC. Mike Stoops is hanging on at Arizona. Only Sumlin is on an up-tick, mostly because of an individual flinger at Houston.

OSU people have done better, Miles a major success at LSU, Fedora well-received at So. Miss.

Outside of Self, most people leaving TU wish they hadn't.

Venables is probably better off than the ones who left before him at OU. Defensive coaches aren't in demand at big-name schools because teams score 75. A head coaching gig at a lesser known place is the route for defensive coaches.

They can't resist the money, but seldom have all-star careers.

There are two major exceptions to moving for bucks, Stoops at OU, Patterson at TCU. Stoops has an adoring media and plays in a chump conference. What job could be better? Course, it would be nice to mix in another national championship every couple of decades. And Patterson seems to love where he is.

Most who have left OU and TU probably wish they were back.

You'll (we'll) get our National Championship soon enough, but great thoughts on the coaches that have moved around. How 'bout that resume?
Where could I send it??

How is the West Virginia job not a great first head coaching position? It's in the weakest football automatic qualifying conference. With any luck, Holgorsen will be competing in a BCS bowl in two years if not sooner. That doesn't sound too bad to me.

Also, former OSU defensive coordinator Tim Beckman is having success in his coaching gig at Toledo. Although on a much small scale, it's still good to see former OSU coaches doing well.

We could always skew the figures to reflect a stronger OU performance if we delve back a few decades. Jimmy Johnson actually was an OU assistant before finally landing at OSU and then going on to Brylcream fame at Miami and Dallas before crashing and burning with the Dolphins. And Jim MacKenzie produced some pretty good coaches in Switzer, Fairbanks, and Rice. We won't mention Gibbs and Blake, for obvious self-serving reasons.
