It Is Simple for OSU

Sometimes football is a simple game.
For all of the talk about spread, no-huddle offenses, for the various blitzes and trick plays, football is still about blocking and tackling.
Sometimes it just comes down to who is tougher.
Oklahoma State was bigger, stronger and tougher in the fourth quarter and beat Texas Tech the old-fashioned way on Saturday night, 24-17.
The Cowboys won because they blocked better, especially in the second half, and they made tackles throughout the game.
Tech's wild offense, which has shocked the Big 12 into an offensive league, was stopped because OSU did the most basic thing in the game better. When OSU had chances to make tackles, it did.
Then, with the game on the line, the Cowboys pushed around the Red Raiders up front.
This game was about toughness and OSU was tougher.

Thanks for the post. That's what it looked like to me. There should be no question about it now. The Pokes have a real defense ... this has to be the best OSU defense since 1984. Go Pokes !

I agree, just don't know whether that says more about OSU or TTech.

The defense has been fairly consistent all year. In the Houston game, they played well enough to win, but the offense and special teams handed Houston some easy scores. The same happened in the Texas game so I am not shocked that they held up against Tech. Also, the decision by Mike Leach to pull Potts early may have actually helped OSU because I believe he could have been more effective overall than Sheffield.

With the injury to Zac at the end of the game, the defense will need to dominate CU on Thursday to ensure no surprises before Bedlam. It will be a miracle if Zac is able to play on Senior Night.
