It's A Big Saturday

There are two things you should do on Saturday, May 3:
1, Go to Tulsa's LPGA Event, the SemGroup Championship.
How often do the best players in the world show up in your backyard? And, unlike major golf championships that have been staged in Tulsa, you don't have to fight through a cast of a Cecil B. DeMille movie to get a glimpse of the best players.
I followed 17-year-old Vicky Hurst the other day and watched her hit a tee shot that soared 300 yards. I can't decide if it inspired me to play more often or to quit the game. They make the most frustrating game in the world look easy.
2, Take advantage of free stuff.
Today is Free Comic Book Day all over the United States. You can raise your kids to chase an athletic scholarship if that's your wish, but the safer bet is to get them an education. Take a step in that direction today and help them fall in love with reading.
On Free Comic Book Day, the half dozen or more comic book stores in Tulsa are all giving free comics away to kids (or grown-ups) and all you have to do is show up and be greedy. There's not a word (including Ragnarok) I have ever written in the newspaper that I didn't first read in a comic book when I was a kid. They were 20 cents back then. Now they're $3 or $4 bucks each. Save some money and get the free ones today. More information: freecomicbookday.com.
