It's Almost August, Play Football!

Here comes the season, uncovered:
Q: What would be considered a successful season for OU?
A: Beating Texas, OSU and winning a BCS bowl game.
Q: Would losing only one regular season game be considered a successful season for the Sooners?
A: Sure. Texas or one of the middle-of-the-road road games. Then a BCS bowl win. Just fine.
Q: Would losing a regular season game and a BCS bowl be considered a disaster?
A: Yep, a stinker, blame the $5 million man.
Q: Could OSU lose to Texas and OU and lose a bowl and still have a successful season?
A: No. Best offense in the country doesn't lose three.
To have a chance to stay in the top ten, somebody needs to call Gundy and tell him not to run Robinson too much, and to watch the game when his defense is on the field.
Q: What would be a successful season for TU?
Three losses would be a big success.
Four, borderline.
Five, a bust.
The big story at TU is what the offense does without genius Gus, who is at Auburn. Note: Watch Auburn for a monster turnaround for the better, could be the biggest surprise in the nation.
Q: Who wins the Heisman?
A: Saint Tebow.
Q: What about Arkansas?
A: Talk about somebody who has slid off the gridiron map--Ark is the site of the two biggest blunders in gridiron history, joining the SEC, and firing Nutt.
Ark would have been a perfect Big 12 addition, a major recuriter and yearly contender.
In the vicious SEC, it's an "other."
Q: What is to be avoided at all costs this football season?
A: Media homers. Bias is evil.
Q: How can you tell what sports talk radio is worth a listen?
A: It's very simple. Only listen to somebody with a sense of humor. Uncreative serious junk is bad for your health. In the entire state, the only thing worth putting on the radio is the morning sports animals operating out of Oklahoma City. These characters seem a little confused by gays, and sometimes side with looks over intelligence, but they're funny. And funny matters.

OU will lose 3-4 games because of no experience in the o-line & their OC will self-destruct HIS offense....OSU will trip over their own feet by looking ahead & losing focus, 2-3 losses....
It's gonna be a fun & glorious season watching the agony of the fans....
Tulsa will clean the slate of course and beat Auburn in the Independence Bowl....or whatever bowl their conference champion goes to....

Tulsandn,
So will OSU lose 2-3 games or 3-4 like you posted on another article? For someone who likes to bash other's schools so much, you sure can't keep your story straight.
By the way, Tulsa is not cleaning any slate. Houston will obliterate them like they did last year.
Pick, I'm fairly sure that Gundy knows he can leave the defense in the capable hands of Bill Young. He is an offensive minded coach who admitted that he doesn't know nearly as much as Young on D. Why would he interject with any of the calls?
tulsandn

2-3, 3-4 same difference, they will lose focus on the prize after the first upset loss they encounter, probably the first game....
I don't own a dog, I can't stand em', I've never beat my wife, I respect women....
OU fans I can put up with because I can cheer with them, OSU fans are no different then TU fans because they haven't won anything major, just like TU, but yet they want to be elitist....
If the OSU coaches can keep their team focused they could achieve more than they ever have, you have to get mean, you have to be unforgiving, you have to reach for the stars and not settle for excuses....Can OSU do this ???? OU can and has in the past, can they do it again ???? Not this year....
Tulsa, aw shucks, we're just Tulsa, pay us no mind as we walk up & knock you in the mouth....

Mexi, it isn't so much interfering.....don't you have to know things like where the football is on the field, and the score, before you call offensive plays?
The stupidest thing in football is scripting plays. How dumb can you get. So third and half an inch, the script says go long?
The opening weekend is late this year, Labor Day being the 7th.....so there are no August games.
But the opening weekend is a monster, OU-BYU in the Thunderdome, Baylor at Wake, LSU at Wash, and Georgia at OSU, with OSU's entire season on the line, and our first lock of the decade, ILLINOIS OVER MISSOURI!
The Picker
It's official, a close look at the schedule confirms that this is in fact the greatest opening weekend in college football history.
Besides what is listed above, including our LOCK, the weekend starts Thursday and extends through Monday night and also includes these two games: Alabama versus Virginia Tech and Miami versus Florida State.
Beautiful.

When do we register for the Picker Contest?
Bring it Pick!!!!!
The Picker

Arby's with cheese: They're out rounding up a prize list as we speak.
They're launching a new monster web site the first week of August, so it won't be long after that.
There will be a bunch of new contest features, like a running update of where everybody stands.

Excellent Picker!! I do miss the good ol days of when we got t-shirts when we beat you. I enjoyed the massive increase in my wardrobe supply.

OSU fans are different than TU fans. We root for TU despite some of their know-it-all fans. Go ahead and leach onto OU, Tulsandn, you're one of many sheep.
Pick, because Gundy is drawing up plays (not scripted, but adjusting to the defense he is encountering) that means he has no idea what is going on in front of him? I highly doubt that. Besides, for every one time the camera showed him drawing up plays, how many times was he on the sideline watching the D perform? I'm guessing many more.
Way to chicken out on your OSU lock over Georgia by the way. When OSU wins, I hope I don't read a blog on how you "predicted it."
Tattoo, easy on the thinly veiled OSU slams. There's a bit of Bedlam peace right now....at least on this blog.

Okie St. fans are just so....Okie St....
I threw you guys a bone & what did you do, you didn't understand....so stereotypical....
Tattoo....why so paranoid ????
Okie St. can't beat anybody out of their weight class either, next year TU\OSU will line up across from each other, when was their last UPSET victory???? Should be a whole lot of fun....
Leaching onto OU, oh well, if you call cheering on a WINNER leaching, simple minds\simple thoughts....

I concur with Pickers comments on what makes a successful Season for OU, OSU & TU. For the Sooners and Pokes to loose 2 games and win their bowl would be huge. As would be the case for TU to loose 3 games and win their bowl. The season is long, injuries can occur, not to meantion parity amongst the conference play. Picker - I believe you got this one correct. Now, give us the winners for H.S. classes A to 6A.

OU season cannot be considered a success until they replace Bob "ball is spotted just outside the 51" Barry on the radio broadcasts. He's just downright embarrasing!!
The Picker
Hatter: Funny you should mention Mr. Barry coming back for his 100th year as OU's play-by-play man.
Somebody said the state legislature would introduce a bill banning a person from operating heavy machinery while listening to BB call a Sooner play, as the confusion could result in erratic motoring.
We're working on a new Bob Barry impression for the first installment of the Picks. It has to do with a halfback shooting a free throw.
Arby's with cheese: The first contest entries will be taken Aug. 31, with the season beginning the following Thursday.
Arbythree

Picker, thank you for the update!
Get those prizes ready.
BTW, how about you make your picks first one week and let us make ours after you? Seems only fair since you have the ability to look at all of our picks before you make yours every week.
What do you say?
The Picker
You finally caught me Arby & Fries. Before making my picks, I go over the thousands of entries and then pick around the all-star contestants.
The truth is, I could let you pick at halftime and still emerge victorious.
Arbythree
Thanks for admitting that Picker. I would love to pick at halftime though as several games this year will, indeed, be over by then.
MexiMike
Tattoo, my mistake. I misunderstood.
Tulsandn, we don't need your bones thrown our way...they're a bit weak and have hardly any meat on them anyway. You'll find out which weight class we are in on Sept. 5th. And if you are inquiring about the last upset victory OSU had, it was last year when the Cowboys beat the #3 team on their own field.
MexiMike
And yes, that in fact is the exact definition of leeching...at least you can admit it.
madhatter
Picker, looking forward to a Bob Barry impression, but how do you top his own stuff? i.e., "He's only 4 for 6 on his last 8 attempts", or my favorite - "doesn't quite get back to the line of scrimmage but appears to have the first down".
