It's Good News Season
Published: 6/13/2011 2:01 PM

The final word is that Lebron is a choker and is not close to one of the all-time greats and is the most disliked athlete outside those who did something wrong.

And James dragged Wade down some with him, turning him into a brat.

And now for the good news: It's football season.

Will OU again be the most overrated?

Will OSU lose a road conference game and mess up the finale?

Will TU survive its tortuous schedule and finish with a winning record?

Will Stoops consider Ohio State?

Will Florida State take out OU?

The best news of all? We're kicking backside, people. In trouble times, this newspaper is exceeding expectations. That's right, now that the internet deadbeats have been flushed to chat rooms and free sites, this newspaper is on target to be here forever. Business is good, morale is Dallas-high.

Overall, the demise of newspapers was a radio and TV person's fantasy.
Once papers quit giving away their products for free on the internet, the industry is settling onto solid ground.

Local sports radio ratings are just in. Close to zero. The sports report on local TV is what, 35 seconds? The print competition, the Oklahomering? Seriously?

You smart ones will always have a home.

I hate chat rooms & the free sites are priced just right....

Even if I wanted to buy a Tulsa World, they aren't sold south of McAlester or is it Henryetta, who knows....

Down here in S.E. Oklahoma we don't get the Daily Oklahoman either....

I guess that's why I can objectivly view Tulsa, OU, & Okie St & still cheer them all on or be overtly critical, I am from Oklahoma but I might as well not be....

At least with the THUNDER all the games are on TV & I can write my own stories on what I see.... OU is usually on also, Okie St is getting there.... TU, oh well, I just rely on blind faith....

The best team won, not the club with allegedly the best "stars"!

Dallas might as well have been the Cavaliers for the folks up here in Cleveland. Think Lebron is as hated as John Elway.

Now that the NBA season is over, let the Dwight Howard trade rumors begin? Will them ‘Blunders be in the mix? Is Westbrook on the trade block? Are Perkins knees shot for good? Will the NBA lockout, lockout rising ran support?

OU will only be over rated until it loses to the Tomahawk Choppers

College Station, Lubbock, Columbia, Mo., a 2-1 mark from that road trek will keep OSU fans giddy, even a Friday night in Nov. in Ames, Iowa won’t be a cake walk.

TU fans would be ecstatic w/ a 2-2 Sept. record. Can the players & coaches “survive” the Sept gauntlet & overcome early season injuries & depth issues to finish the season w/ 8 straight wins? SMU @ home is always a ‘tuff out, playing on the Eastern Conference fav’s home field on a short week @ UCF won’t help, & then its quite possible IF Houston gets by its early home date w/ UCLA, them Cougs’ could be rolling in to T-town after Turkey Day undefeated & on the BCS radar.

Bedlum will still be a good game but will OSU even have 10 wins by then? Will OU already be out of the nat’l championship hunt by then. Will the Big 12(10) rotation cause less ending season excitement & lessen the chance of 2 Big 12(10) schools qualifying for a BCS game?

One can choose to pay for access to the Tulsa World, but the free Oklahoman is ten times the news and writing. I only come here now when I'm bored.

you're kicking backside? I now visit this site about once a month. Can't the ads pay your salary picker? how many ads are on this page right now? AT&T, progressive and another AT&T. 3 ads. You know why network TV is free? ads.

I would just like it to be noted that I stated, on this forum, before the playoffs started that the Mavs would win the title.

Really wasn't that hard of a pick...they were the deepest team with the game's best player. The Mavericks were the best team all season long...if Caron Butler hadn't been lost for the season and Dirk hadn't missed 9 games, the Mavs would've had the best record in the NBA, by far.

Also, think about this...in game 6, the Mavericks were without Butler, without their backup center, Dirk was 1-12 in the first half and really couldn't have shot it any worse and they still beat the Heat by 10. The Dallas Mavericks were a very deserving champion.

Dallas proved me wrong in winning the title. No way I thought that the Mavs could, after losing game three at home, beat the Heat having to win the NBA championship in Miami. Not only did they do that, but in six games. With Jet Terry on fire to offset Dirk's slow start in game six, and Tiny Barea speeding around anyone in a Heat uniform, Dallas showed why they are the champions, they played team basketball...something that Miami showed they couldn't do. My hat's off to the Mavericks, very worthy of the title.

Marathon and Nut: Better writing? The people at the Oklahomering couldn't carry our pens used for signing autographs. They're cheerleaders.

The four-foot guy for Dallas can play some basketball.

Do you'thunk TU's No Mojo No Zone Wojo noticed how well the Mav zone contained & disrupted da' Heat firepower?

The Picker (last year)
Zones do stop drivers.

Rebounding is usually a big problem though.

Am I the only one that notices how THE GREAT PICKER never admits when he is wrong. He has stuck by his pick of the heat from the preseason all the way through, talking a lot of trash as the heat destroyed the celts and bulls. Did you really think, Picker, that LeBron could continue hitting 3s the way he did? And now you just jump on the bandwagon of LeBron haters. Have some humility, admit you were wrong. In closing, please don't turn this into any kind of ou/osu football talk to distract your fans.

Picker: Sittler is the best, but NEWSOK wins the rest.

Who knew LeBron would choke that much.

Marathon, you need to get out more.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
