If you haven’t seen J.W. Walsh play, here’s your chance.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Walsh and the Denton Guyer Wildcats face Cibolo Steele in the Texas Class 5A Division II championship football game. The game is televised live by Fox Sports Oklahoma (Cox cable 27 in the Tulsa area).
Rated by Scout.com as the nation’s No. 6 quarterback recruit and by Rivals as the No. 3 dual-threat QB, Walsh is committed to Oklahoma State.
Because Walsh announced his commitment to OSU two weeks after Dana Holgorsen was hired to coordinate the Cowboy offense, there was this question: Was Walsh committed to OSU or to Holgorsen?
But after Holgorsen was hired this week by West Virginia, Walsh immediately announced that he remained firmly committed to OSU. Walsh – coached at Guyer by his father, John Walsh – says he will enroll at mid-term and be with the Cowboys during spring practice.
In his last 39 starts, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound J.W. Walsh led Guyer to a 34-5 record while passing for 6,859 yards and 71 touchdowns. He also rushed for 3,791 yards and 48 TDs.
