Jones commitment caps the Cowboy weekend

Big weekend for the O-State football program.

On Saturday, the Cowboys smoke Missouri State 52-10. Perrish Cox: A star is born. Opening-kickoff TD, interception, 72 punt-return yards.

On Sunday, nationally rated recruit Richetti Jones announces on live television his intention to sign with the Cowboys in February.

``This is a solid decision, 100 percent,'' Jones said on Fox Sports Net Southwest. ``I will take no other visits. Oklahoma State is the place for me. I'll feel right at home.''

Scout.com ranks Jones, of Dallas Lincoln High School, among the top 25 prospects in the nation. He gets a five-star rating, and he chose OSU over Oklahoma and Florida.

The Mike Gundy staff has become a national player in recruiting. The signing of Cox, after he did an about-face on his commitment to LSU, was a huge recruiting triumph for Oklahoma State.

OSU destroyed a Division I-AA Missouri State team. Can the Cowboys be similarly impressive against a I-A opponent? In a game played at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, OSU is favored by two touchdowns over Arkansas State.

These kinds of commitments are to be expected from the State's University. Having the nation's finest athletic facilities will only enhance this caliber of recruiting, regardless of the sport.

Realizing we are a long way from signing day, getting a committment from a 5-Star Prospect is huge & will only help build momentum into an awesome 07' Recruiting Class. If we can get Gerald Jones, plus Simi Fili from Utah, that's Big!!!!

Coach Gundy, DeForest & the rest of the coaching staff deserve a big hats off for a great job networking the tough high school circuit, especially in talent-rich Texas!

Certainly it doesn't hurt when a multi-million dollar facilities project is in the works to have one of the finest sports complex/stadium, if not the Finest in the country!!!!!!!

This was exactly what Mike Holder had visioned knowing OkState was up against programs who are well financed simply from "legacy" (i.e. OU, Notre Dame, USC, Texas etc....)
This gets us in the ballpark!
