Here's an interesting proposition.

Which would you take in a national champion question: North Carolina and Ucon, or the Field?

Two against 63.

But this is a sneaky deal, because of the Field, there are probably only five teams that could win, none probably as good as Carolina and Ucon: Pitt, OU, Wake, Duke and Louisville.

So it's the best two against the next best five.

But if you take the Field, you don't have to actually pick a winner, all you have to do is get NC and Ucon beat.

Carolina plays lousy defense. Ucon is tough but not particularly speedy.

You have to take the Field side of the proposition, right?

In another basketball matter, what could be a bigger waste of time than analyzing the "bubble." Bubble teams stink. Those that get in get smashed. Yet ESPN spends hundreds of hours on the "bubble." Who cares.

In more basketball business, something is slightly out of balance at OU. Guard play is inconsistent. But it's more than that, barely beating two dogs. It looks like there is a lot of posturing going on down there, monster dunks and high-flying blocks followed by flexing and scowling; as the foe gets a lay-up. Quit posing and keep playing.

In yet another basketball story, get the barf bag ready, Duke and North Carolina play Wednesday night. Carolina coach Weepy Williams yanks his glasses off more than Horatio Hambone Caine on CSI: Miami. And when Carolina and Duke meet, Dick Vitale sounds like something out of Austin Powers, Dunkie Dookie Baby!

In still more basketball stuff, is there any pressure on the ORU coach to do a little more winning? Just wondering.

In conclusion, TU is up against it big time Wednesday night in Memphis. Getting the ball to, and then across, half court, will be an accomplishment against the vicious Memphis defense. Fortunately, Memphis shoots free throws like it would be rather be dunking; drawing iron on a free toss calls for two fist bumps.

Seems like an eternity until OU/The Mormons. Oh well the Spring thing is just around the corner, like diet croutons.

Right now I would take UNC, UConn over the field. Only because of Uconn not sold on UNC.

Is the ACC overrated? I know I just committed one of the biggest crimes against college basketball with that statement but think about it. Wake Forrest and Duke struggling. Clemson blowing around a 20 point lead at home after dismantling Duke. Traditional powers of Maryland and Gtech could not win the Southern Conference.

Some would say that these teams are all beating up on each other and there is great balance in the league. I say balance=mediocrity.

I am now sold on UNC
