Linebacker Alex Elkins, who in 2009 helped lead Blinn (Texas) College to the national junior-college title, has announced his commitment to Oklahoma State.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Elkins is the 18th player on OSU’s 2011 commitment list. He did not play football while attending Keller (Texas) High School, but earned a spot on the Blinn roster after performing well during a 2009 summer camp.
“Pound for pound, he's the strongest athlete in our program,” Blinn coach Brad Franchione told GoPokes.com. “He's learning the game, and as he learns the game, he's going to continue to play faster and faster.”
Elkins is OSU’s ninth defensive commitment. OSU now is believed to be focused on the recruiting of defensive tackles. Verbal commitments are non-binding. Recruits may sign national letters of intent in February.
