KTUL Sells Out Kimmel; Redskin Coach Should Be Ashamed
Published: 1/9/2013 12:09 PM

Last night was a landmark event in television: Jimmy Kimmel went head to head to chin with Letterman and Leno. ABC moved Kimmel's talk show to the 10:30 central time zone spot.

And Kimmel won! He edged Letterman 2.8 to 2.7 in the ratings. Leno was a weak third, exactly where he belongs. (Update: Early data had Kimmel ahead of his rivals, but later figures put Leno on top.)

Here's the sad side of that story: Local ABC affiliate KTUL didn't run Kimmel at the new time! KTUL bumped Kimmel to 11:30 and put on junk reruns of Three Men and a Chicken, Seven's Company, some Belushi rerun, who knows for sure, who could watch.

The point must be that KTUL can make a few more bucks off local ads on reruns.

Bumping first-run high-quality network shows in favor of rerun slop doesn't seem like the best way to treat prospective viewers.

In sports news, RG3 of the Redskins has undergone extensive knee surgery.

We can see starting him last week. But after his knee gave way after a pass to the right, and he had to hop on one leg after a run to the left, putting him back into the game was shameful.

The Redskin coach blew it.

Jimmy Kimmel - "first-run high-quality network show"??? Even Kimmel would not claim that.

Kimmel is considerably better than Two Men and a Duck, or whatever musty rerun KTUL went with!

Channel 8 should be arrested.

Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic exhibition by channel 8. Absolutely a joke. Then again, KTUL hasn't taken it's television seriously for the better part of 30 years, so it's not surprising.

Second every word of that.

In other news....

OU juniors to leave early and declare for the NFL draft. Those idiots had enough trouble playing in the lowly Big 12. Do they actually think they can compete in the NFL? Who would want any of those bumble-heads? STL bet the farm on Bradford and look at what a dud he turned out to be...and he won the Heisman for crying out loud!

The article I read had Leno as the winner and Letterman was third.

On Tuesday night, Mr. Leno on NBC pulled in 3.27 million viewers, edging Mr. Kimmel on ABC, who had 3.1 million. The total for Mr. Kimmel was his second highest. It also put him in second place, ahead of David Letterman on CBS, who had 2.88 million viewers.

I emailed KTUL immediately when Kimmel didn't air at 10;30 VOICING MY DISPLEASURE. No response, of course.

What exactly has Mike Shanahan done since winning 2 super bowl titles with John Elway as his QB? Answer: Nothing much.

Good for KTUL, we don't need more reality TV (even though I don't watch KTUL late night reruns so honestly I don't care what they show).

Saying Jimmy Kimmel is funnier isn't saying much with the bar being so low.

That's like saying a cold is better than an ear infection.

It's like saying the Picker is better than local sports radio.
