KU Losses Give us a Big 12 Race

There are six teams within two games of the top of the Big 12 Conference basketball race.
A seventh is just three games back of the lead.
Kansas, with three straight losses, has given the Big 12 a race.
In recent years, the Jayhawks have usually run away from the pack. Not this year.
In an eight-day period, the Jayhawks lost at home, lost to a team that had a computer ranking above 200 and then got a third straight loss at Oklahoma on Saturday.
What was a two-game lead in the Big 12 race is gone. The Jayhawks now find themselves tied with Oklahoma State one game back of Kansas State.
Like most of college basketball, the Big 12 would appear to have a wide open race.
Kansas State is the current leader but the Wildcats still have difficult games ahead.
KSU beat Iowa State, 79-70, on Saturday in a big showdown. The Wildcats also have a sweep of Oklahoma.
“Everyone is talking about how we are in first but we are pretty much halfway in the Big 12 and there are a lot of games left,” said KSU’s Angel Rodriguez. “We have to go to buildings like KU and Oklahoma State.
“Does it feel good? Yes, but we can’t settle. It is a long season.”
Oklahoma State appears to be the hottest team in the league. The Cowboys lost three of their first five conference games but they have now won five straight, after a road victory at Texas on Saturday.
But, just about every game is a challenge in the Big 12. The race has just started.
