Kansas vs. Boston: NCAA game or battle of rock bands?

This should make you feel old.

I had previously fired off this question on Facebook and Twitter regarding an NCAA Tournament matchup: If Kansas vs. Boston was a battle of the bands instead of an NCAA Tournament game, who would win?

I asked Boston guard Matt Griffin that question during a locker room Q and A Thursday at the BOK Center. He thought I was talking about the student bands at KU and BU.

Why did he think that? Because he's in his 20s. And this is 2011. And Kansas and Boston are rock bands that filled arenas in the 1970s. So, to him, Kansas (the band, not KU) really is dust in the wind.

I'm not poking fun of the kid for a lack of knowledge about classic rock. Heck, as far as he's concerned, 90s music might be classic rock.

But, for the rest of us, we just got a lot more ancient.

Pressed for an answer, Griffin would pick Boston in the battle of the rock bands because he plays for Boston and he's got to, you know, represent.

I'd go with Boston in the battle of bands. KU on the court.

I've got more than a feeling that Kansas will carry on. Ugh!

The answer he was really trying to tell you was "Don't look back, a new day is breakin". He sure as heck though was not saying "Let me love you take me home to your religion for the night".

Boston with out question wins the battle of the bands, while kansas is the "higher power" on the court.
