Keiton Page is a good teammate, but.....

Because of Keiton Page’s size, many underestimate him as a college basketball player

As it turns out, maybe he is underestimated as a comedian.

Here’s the back story:

During a postgame press conference Wednesday night, Markel Brown was asked to clarify his injury situation. Brown said it’s sort of like a hip bruise, except it’s on the side of his butt and it hurts so badly that it prevents him from extending a leg when running.

Page and Brown are roommates. Page was sitting next to Brown in the interview room while Brown was confirming to reporters that he had a sore butt.

Page chimed in with this: “I don’t help him out at the apartment at all. If he asks me for treatment, I will tell him it’s strictly (athletic trainer Jason Miller’s) job.”

The comment drew a few chuckles from the media, but not as many as it should have and that's because it sort of caught everyone off guard. When Page talks, it's usually to compliment a teammate for setting a good screen. An attempt at comedy was a bolt from the blue.

Page is, by all accounts, a good teammate who didn’t balk when coaches asked him to “take one for the team” and move to point guard three games ago. There are obviously limits to the things even a good teammate will do.

Said Page, “I just told (Markel) from day one, whenever he found it was a butt injury, don’t come to me at the apartment and want any help because I’m staying away from it.”
