Lakers-Celtics? Nope. It's Lakers vs. World

Old-time NBA junkies seem to be excited about the first Celtics-Lakers championship series in 21 years.
But this isn't just Lakers vs. Celtics. It's Lakers vs. the world.
My guess is that only Lakers fans are rooting for the Lakers. Everyone else will root for the Celtics because of the sympathy factor.
Kobe Bryant doesn't need a ring. He already has enough rings to start his own circus.
But Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are veterans in search of their first championship.
It would be a shame if Garnett, like Karl Malone and Charles Barkley in basketball's previous generation, ended his career ring-less.
This is sort of like the Super Bowl. How many people wanted to see Tom Brady win another ring and how many people were cheering for the Giants to whack Goliath?
Bryant is a great player who silenced critics this season by reaching the championship series. Gone is the myth that he can't get the job done without Shaquille O'Neal. Give him respect. But give the championship rings to the guys who really need them and that's Garnett and Co.

I think you're wrong. You under estimate the Boston factor. People are tired of the RedSox and Patriots. Do we really want another title in beantown? No!

Great point, Dwayne. I hadn't factored in the anti-Boston factor.

I am a Lakers fan but I definitely wouldn't mind seeing KG win one. Also, I think that even though there is an anti-Boston factor that people will still side with the Celtics as the historic team coming back from the ashes with storybook players to win one.

Jimmie, don't forget about Patrick Ewing never winning one!
