Last ride for this Trojan horse

Oklahoma safety Jason Carter recently strolled into an interview session wearing a Rose Bowl shirt. Has it been that long? Did the one-time Jenks all-stater really suit up against Washington State on New Year's Day 2003.
Well, not quite. That was Carter's redshirt year. But the man has been around as long as anybody. And he seems as worthy as anyone to share his thoughts on OU-Texas, now that he's about to make his fifth appearance in the Cotton Bowl.
Mr. Carter, the stage is yours...
On the rude greeting Longhorn fans always give the Sooner buses as they roll up to the stadium:
"I don't even know if they can see us. I don't think they know who they're flipping off. Some of us are nice people. You never know what can happen when fans and students from both schools come together at a big event, and then you mix in a little alcohol. But it's all right. It's a great experience. It only gets my adrenaline running. You take that right into the locker room."
On the walk down the tunnel to the field:
"At first you're really kind of tense and nervous about everything. Did you prepare well enough? Is everything that you know gonna play out the way you want it to? You start talking to your teammates, kind of get a sense of the way they feel. It all goes away once you hit that grass, though."
A favorite pregame memory:
"In 2003, we were warming up as a DB group. We had Brandon Everage, Derrick Strait and those guys. Roy Williams comes over and he says something to Brandon. Next thing you know, we're all talking back and forth to each other, and there's a big clash between our DB's and their wide receivers. I don't know exactly what Roy said, but I know it ticked Brandon off. And when it came to Brandon Everage, you didn't say anything like that. He would buck up with you."
On postgame:
"I don't really get to go to the fair afterwards, so I always ask my family to get me something, meet me at the buses with a funnel cake or turkey leg or something."
On his farewell game this Saturday:
"I can't wait. If I get in, I know I'm gonna do something. I don't care, I'll be flying around the field."
