LeBron Story Blurs the Line

The story of LeBron James, and where he will play, will be settled during a made-for-tv show on ESPN on Thursday night.
Once again, a sports story has crossed the line from journalism to entertainment. ESPN is covering a story that it is also promoting as a television show.
I don't know what this says about the new sports journalism. But, there is no question that ESPN has become the voice of sports in this country through its many different platforms.
This is an era when the biggest story in Oklahoma this week was broken about Kevin Durant by Kevin Durant on his Twitter account.
I've been a sports writer for 34 years.
To say this is a new and far different era in sports journalism is an understatement.
Is it better? I don't know about that. But, it is quicker. The hot story doesn't change with the morning paper.
It changes by the minute via the internet, texting, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
