LeGone James

Forget LeBron James.

It's LeGone James, the worst sport in sports.

Evidently the posing and flexing and mugging for the camera was the truth, and the regular guy stuff was an act.

Not congratulating the winners and ducking even the media that he has spent a career buttering up is not a mistake, it's a character element.

Forgive him for being a lousy sport?

Sure.

Forget it?

Impossible.

That guy couldn't carry Kobe's extra shoelace.

What was the national media's blotch of the week?

Not understanding why Denver was so lousy against the Lakers. It was the sorry play of guard Chokesie Billups, who, in the last two games, put up numbers of 12 and 10. Come on people, wake up out there.

From other events of the weekend, this question:

Why is OU baseball so consistently bad?

LeGone? Is that the best you can do? If LeBron's character is bad, I actuaaly thought he was one of the better character guys in the NBA. At least he didn't rape the maid on his last trip to Colorado.
True, OU baseball is consistently bad but whatever happened to OSU baseball? I think it's sitting in Miami(a) with coach Ward. Really, doesn't pokey state have to do something with Anderson?
MexiMike (4 years ago)
WK, your post is about as informative as a gossip magazine. First of all, it was proven that the girl in Colorado was a liar and that's all I'm saying about that.

Secondly, OSU had a bad year. It happens. Teams rebuild. Now, what doesn't happen quite often are teams like OU who are #1 seeds and have home field advantage through not only the regional but also the SUPER regional and still choke it off in the first 3 games by losing by an average of over 10 runs.

On to the topic, Lebron definitely hurt his reputation by ending the series with such bad sportsmanship. One of the ESPN guys said it best when he said, "Adversity does not build character, it reveals it."

Speaking of revealing character, Pick, didn't you pick Cleveland winning it all? And as said before, turned your nose up to my prediction of the Lakers taking the whole thing?

Can YOU be humble in defeat? Or does your character resemble the Lebron James of sports writing?
TAB (4 years ago)
Picker, I think you need to cut back your output. This column is pretty lame. Clearly you don't know much about the NBA, nor do you like it. If you really think this is anything but a blip on the radar for Lebron, you are just as dense as the nannering nabobs of sports talk radio and Sportscenter that you mock. This was nothing. Get a clue.

Sorry MexiMike. And when did you start writing a column in all of your infinite wisdom? It's a comment-- not an article a-hole.
MexiMike (4 years ago)
Haha! "A-hole?!" Wow, wk is bringing out the big guns. Calm down there, cupcake.

By the way, it's not infinite wisdom. Rather, it's just an opinion. But being a person with your caliber of intellect, I can see how almost everybody's opinions seem like infinite wisdom to you.

So, thanks!

TAB, you're just mad (again) because I said TU was as likely to go .500 as it was to win 9 this season.

MexiMike, you picked the Lakers? Really? No kidding? Wow. Where'd you get them. The Lakers, huh. Bet you must feel all alone, picking the Lakers. Brilliant. Genius. Inspired. I'm still pulling for Orlando.

Speaking of the horrific and sinking state of the electronic media in this state, it's time to praise somebody on sports talk radio. That's right, a long shot comes in, a sports talk radio man scores.

On a recent show, Big Al Jerkins made the superb, excellent and accurate point that some of his Oklahoma City Sports Animal radio teammates had turned into comical figures with their instant NBA expertise: Trade this guy, draft those four, bench him, start the other one.....guess what: Landing a big league team does not automatically make the media big time. Local yahoos don't become big-time by association.

"That guy couldn't carry Kobe's extra shoelace."

Hmmmmm......not sure about that one, Picker.

He is better at just about everything compared to Kobe, besides Kobe being a better "pure" shooter.

Oh, and as far as character goes, he beats Kobe by about 4,000 miles.
MexiMike (4 years ago)
Picker, nobody said it wasn't a popular pick going with the Lakers. All I said was that you shunned me for making it whereas you took the Cavs.

Once again, your hypocrisy shows by calling out LeBron for his bad sportsmanship after he lost, yet you do the same thing by not admitting that you were wrong and somebody else was right.
MexiMike (4 years ago)
By the way, Pick, how alone did you feel picking the Cavs? Hmmm...

Anyway, I've got the Lakers winning in 5.
BobSmith007 (4 years ago)
TU is as likely to go .500 as it it to win 9 this season? Is that an insult or a compliment? TU being as likely to win 9 as it is to be .500 doesn't sound so bad, right?
TAB (4 years ago)
I'm not worried about your football prediction, Picker, though I'll note you're trying to change the topic from your stellar work above. Since we've established that you're basically a poor man's Al Ecsback (I'd look up the spelling of his name, but it's not worth it), I'll address the football prediction: TU will go to a bowl next year for the seventh time in eight years. The schedule is tough, no doubt. But this team has some serious young talent only a nabob would ignore.
The Picker (4 years ago)
Outpick: Name one thing LeGone James has ever done.

TAB, who doesn't go to a bowl?
TAB (4 years ago)
About half of C-USA and Baylor, K-State, and likely Taco Tech this year.

James won MVP and the Olympics. If you actually watched him play (you don't) you would understand that he's a pretty fantastic talent. You could make similar arguments about young Michael Jordan. Lebron will get there; he needs better talent on his team.
The Picker (4 years ago)
TAB, so exactly what would be a successful football year for TU?

Go on the record for a change. It won't hurt. Much.

Gene, you talked me out of Charitable Man; you better be right.
OutPickMyNose (4 years ago)
Picker,

Well, an MVP for starters. A gold medal....

After that, maybe we should wait until Lebron has legit players to help, like Kobe has had in two different periods. Then, we can talk about how good he really is. With just Kobe, LA was a marginal 7-8 seed in the West.

As for now, why don't you look at his stats from the series against the Magic and tell me how terrible he was.

Too bad he was the only player on the floor against the Magic. It was 1 on 5 out there.
TAB (4 years ago)
Bowl game and beating Rice, in addition to either Houston or Boise. I think they can do better, I don't think they'll do much worse. Unlike you and your Sportscenter/sports talk radio crowd, Picker, I respect where TU was, how far they have come, and generally enjoy football for football's sake, instead of basing failure off not winning it all. The game is corrupt at the top, so it makes more sense to try to enjoy it and not constantly worry about the "nattering nabobs" and you have to say.

Now if the basketball team doesn't make the tournament, then I'll be really mad.
The Picker (4 years ago)
Outpick: LeGone James has nothing in the NBA except con voters like Stuart Scott. He had plenty of help all year long, before Orlando stuffed him. His fourth quarter stats are as lousy.

TAB: Didn't we have a conversation about the TU quarterback being drafted in the NFL? Then didn't we have a conversation about him getting on as a free agent?

Beat Boise? Now we're talking. Houston and Rice are Little League teams. I'll take Boise for dinner.
