Linked in possibility: Bill Young-A&M, Joe DeForest-Redskins

Regarding Oklahoma State football assistants Bill Young and Joe DeForest:

Texas A&M is searching for a defensive coordinator. I've heard that Aggie coach Mike Sherman might be tempted to throw a lot of money at OSU miracle-worker Bill Young.

A friend in College Station tells me that he's not aware of any actual Sherman attempt to hire Young. A&M might be willing to go as high as $500,000 for a defensive coordinator.

At OSU, Young's current income is $315,000. He'll get a raise at OSU, but the prediction here is that he is bumped to somewhere in the range of $375,000-$425,000.

Young says he loves OSU and Stillwater. Does he love OSU enough to work there for $100,000 less than he might make elsewhere?

If I remember correctly, OSU special-teams coordinator Joe DeForest has a friendship with Mike Shanahan. Perhaps it's a possibility that Shanahan views DeForest as a staff candidate with the Washington Redskins.

DeForest is a valuable recruiter and, apparently, a pretty good special-teams coach. Texas' Mack Brown has said that OSU consistently has the Big 12's best special-teams play.

Bill Young already took a pay cut to come to Stillwater. he's in the Twilight of his career and wasn't the point of his return to be close to where he grew up?

Joe D will be in the NFL someday but word has it he is waiting for his kids to get out of school.

There is absolutely no way that Bill Young takes a job with the A&M Aggies. No way.
