Little East

We'll go against the Eastern Sports Promotionan Network (ESPN) in this one: The Big East is vastly overrated.

The lowly Aggies could take out Ucon.

Seriously.

The Louisville coach is to preoccupied with mugging for the camera to win a national title.

Pitt is the best of the over-blown lot.

But we wouldn't be surprised if none of the Big East teams made the title game.

What's a good year?

OU has to get to the last eight.

OSU has to beat Tennessee.

TU has to beat Auburn.

Otherwise, major disappointments for all three.

According to numerous reports, OU's Capel is on numerous head coaching lists.

Here's a good question: Why?

He hasn't won an important game yet.

Beware of the "Buzz Peterson" Syndrome.

That's where the media makes coaches seem better than their records.

Of course the Aggies could take out UConn. Any team COULD take out any other. Try to avoid the incredibly obvious observations.....

Picker, I don't know why people like to goad you on...well I do, and its because you're not a homer clad in orange or crimson, and you tell it like you see it whether it is going to draw the ire of Gooners and Stoolwaterians alike. Of course I agree on all your observations. OSU's glass slipper is about to shatter...OU is not as good as people think and especially if the other team puts a quick double on Blake Griffin (who is an outstanding player). What we are finding out is OU's guards are spotty at best and what will keep them from advancing to the Final Four ( I have them losing to Syracuse because of guard play). I also agree with you that TU needs to just keep winning against the big teams in so-called power conferences just so they can learn to play without getting that wild-eyed deer in headlights look. So, when does football season start? TU will finish the year 11-2, C-USA Champs and play someone in the Liberty Bowl (losses to OU, So. Miss on the road).

Hey Picker...why don't you publish your bracket? Afraid to have everyone see you are full of hot air?

BLA: This is the Homer Center of the Universe.

It's sappier than Lake Wobegon, where all the kids are smart, all the men are handsome, and all the women are pretty.

Here, all the coaches are geniuses, all the players are all-stars, anything connected with OU is great, and all the media members are chums with the ones they cover.

The National Homer Hall of Fame should be here.

Hmmm...this is the biggest tournament in college sports with the most hype about predicting bracket busters, upsets, etc. Probably your best chance to show your skills, I mean you do call yourself "The Picker" right? Isn't your column supposted to include your "picks" of sporting events along with your self promoting rants? Where is your bracket...put up or shut up.

The Picker cannot post his bracket until he gets a look at mine so he can copy it.

Until then, he will dangle the carrot of his greatness.

"The lowly aggies could take out UConn. Seriously."

That 57-point miss - the most lopsided tourney game in the shot clock era - has to cancel out any credit the Picker might have built up for The Streak.

Did you seriously just compare Jeff Capel to Buzz Peterson? That may be your most idiotic comment yet.
Football-Guru (4 years ago)
i think it's a fair question - picker brags about being 20 for 21 on his last picks and is scared to post his bracket for the biggest sporting event (outside of the Super Bowl) in the US - Picker, post your bracket - either put-up or
shut-up!!!!

Picker...objective journalism does not reside in our beautiful state. Selective criticism does however raise it's ugly head on a regular basis. For some reason our 'yellow dog' journalists feel it's their duty to be biased, to help spew and spread what other areas won't say about our beloved teams. This is where the inflated heads and chest thumping rule over anything remotely close to accuracy, or heaven forbid...the truth.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
