Hey Vern, remember what you promised.

Stay off that tractor when you've been in the new shine.

Simple solution to future Hall of Fame consideration for post 97 players: if you wish consideration take a lie detector test regarding the use of performance enhancement drugs.

I know you played a little ball in college, picker, and I know you love the game, but you should give it up...stop trying to revive the patient...put the defibrillating paddles away. The patient's a bum; a clear case of suicide. Collect baseball cards from the fifties.

Picker, when does Blind Eye Selig report?
LaffALot (4 years ago)
Since the World Series strike in ‘94, baseball has been all about ego’s, greed, & self adulation which includes embracing performance enhancing substances.

Why blame the players? The owners knew what was going on in the 90’s & they did NOTHING. There was no pressure, penalties, or restrictions from baseball’s hierarchy. Baseball statistics aren’t “tainted! Player’s were giving the “leeway” w/out any control. limitations, nor restrictions. Ownership had no “official” position & testing on the issue until ’03? Baseball created their own problem & mess.

Anyone who supports professional baseball & these over paid, egomaniacs has lost “sense” w/ the purity of the sport! Just go to a local park or ball field, u’ll find a ton of kids having fun playing the game of baseball w/out all the political/sensational/celebrity albatross that has wrecked the once dominant sport that defined an era in America’s history.

It’s the ‘ol saying, “its about the money, when its about the money” For professional baseball, its no longer about the game!

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
