Looking at the parallels

What I'm about to type is almost taboo and very well could produce another century of heartache and despair instead of the desire to FINALLY experience something truly historic.
This could be the year for the Chicago Cubs.
GULP! There. I wrote it.
Yes, the next few weeks could be very exciting and exasperating for Cub fans like myself. One hundred years without a World Series title is hard to fathom. Even if the loveable losers were to extend the misery, there is an interesting parallel to Oklahoma State football when the Chicago Cubs experience success. The Cowboys have experienced some unseen success in football.
1908: Last Cubs World Series title; first-ever winning season in OSU history
1945: Last Cubs World Series appearance; only undefeated season in OSU history
1984: First Cubs postseason appearance in 39 years; first 10-win season in OSU history
2003: First Cubs postseason series victory since 1908; OSU's first New Year's Day bowl game since 1945
2008: Who knows? Maybe it will be their years, after all.
