Mad Mike is back to make OU-Mizzou a little more fun

The best moment in the history of the Oklahoma-Missouri football series isn't Joe Washington' 71-yard touchdown run from 1975, Billy Sims' 70-yard gallop from '78, or Chris Chester's cross-armed catch in '02.
It isn't anything Kellen Winslow, James Wilder or Steve Pisarkiewicz ever did for the Tigers.
It's this, and it isn't even close:

Well, Mad Mike DeArmond, beat writer par excellence for the Kansas City Star, has picked another fight with the Insane Sooner Posse. He has written a blog entitled "As OU has twice proven with MU: Made-up stuff is great kindling."
The Sooners would rather remember their '02 nail-biter in Columbia for Matt McCoy's fake field goal TD pass to Chester.
DeArmond?
"In 2002 a fake story replete with things Missouri coach Gary Pinkel never said – which the OU players were convinced appeared under my byline in the Star – was the vehicle for the Sooners to get their mad on."
The Sooners would rather remember their '08 Big 12 championship hydraulic pressing of Mizzou for their start-to-finish dominance
DeArmond?
"(Sam) Bradford told ABC sideline reporter Lisa Salter (it's Salters, actually) that he was angry that Missouri players called OU's two 2007 victories over MU 'flukes.' Never mind that no Missouri player or coach was ever quoted as saying that on radio, TV or even – as far as I can ascertain – in an Internet blog or Twitter message."
At this point, it's probably worth noting that DeArmond delights in poking sticks in the sides of certain fan bases, especially those lathered up over Kansas basketball. It's what makes him Mad Mike.
And since he didn't blog anything untrue – the Sooners really did manufacture some of their motivational juices in '02 and '08 – I'm all for his presenting a delicious subplot to this year's game.
Still, you gotta think this day is coming: After one of these Missouri games someone's going to ask a Sooner for his true source of motivation. He's not going to say "disrespect" or "it gets us a step closer to our goals" or "we just wanna improve each and every week."
He's going to crack a wicked grin, chuckle and say, "Honestly, we just wanna muzzle Mizzou's Mad Mike."
